    Hi Everyone:

Just found this information on Graceland's website regarding the upcoming FTD book/CD release "Flashback" on May 20th:

The book and CD entitled Flashback provide an insightful look at the 30 months when Elvis truly reigned as the King Of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The 172-page book features 285 classic, rare and previously unpublished photos. The CD provides 69 minutes of previously unreleased music. Flashback is a unique journey from January 1956 through June 1958. Scheduled release date is May 20, 2004.

    CD Track Listing:

    THE MONO OUTTAKES

    Heartbreak Hotel – take 5 (1. part), 4 (2. part)
Money Honey – take 10 intro only
I’m Counting On You – takes 1,2, unknown
I Was The One - take 7 unedited
Lawdy, Miss Clawdy – takes 11,12
Shake, Rattle And Roll – takes 3,5,6,7
    I Want You, I Need You, I Love You - take 3
Rip It Up – takes 10,11,12,16
Loving You Slow - takes 2,3
I Need Your Love Tonight - takes 12,13
    A Big Hunk O Love – take 2
Ain’t That Loving You Baby – take 8 – fast fade on Elvis laughing
    A Fool Such As I – takes 4,5
    I Got Stung - takes 4-8

    THE BINAURAL OUTTAKES

That’s When Your Heartaches Begin - take 1
It Is No Secret - take 5
    Blueberry Hill – take 3
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You - takes 6,7
Is It So Strange - takes 8-9
Loving You (main title version) - take 6
Loving You (main title version) – take 12
    Treat Me Nice (1st version) – 2003 takes 1,2,3
    Young And Beautiful – 2004 take 6
    I Want To Be Free – 2009 take 11
    Don’t Leave Me Now - 2017 take 7,8

What does everyone think of FTD releasing another book/CD compliation? Although the CD certainly sounds like a nice collection of outtakes, will the inclusion of a 172-page book cause many fans to pass on buying this release because of the increased cost?

    I guess time will tell...

    TCB!

I think it is a great concept.

The first such release, TTWIW was a quality publication / release. The disc was fantastic. The book, was just OK content wise.

Expecting more of the same & a book with substance (one would hope) this time.

As you say, time will tell indeed.

I have no doubt that the price will be a problem for many fans / collectors. Regardless, I will buy this, what looks to be an incredible, ...... release.

My attitude: give me UNRELEASED QUALITY products ..... and I will gladly pay PREMIUM prices for the material. It sure beats the alternative of having nothing at all.

This will be the second FTD that I won't buy. The CD is a bit the same as disc 1 from "Close Up" and you pay over 40 euro extra for the book. For that price I'd rather buy an other book.

Of course many FTD's are also almost the same as previous released material (when you consider that many alternate takes sound very simular to takes that you already know/own). But those FTD's have a different pricetag

I'll buy it as soon the price drops below the 50 euro (and I find that also very pricy)

The Way It Was book/cd was a fantastic release.

Ok, the book could have been a little better...and i will agree it was pretty expensive.....but i certainly wouldn't have wanted to miss it.

I think we should make the most of these releases while we can...there will be a day when the pot is empty

I probably won't get it (too many other higher priorities at lower prices), but it definitely sounds like a worthy project. I am sure it will be nice, and I too think it's great that such things are being made available.

Hopefully the cost of the book/CD is not too much higher than the value of the sum of its parts.

    Thanks for the news, Mike.
