I couldn't find the clip but the screen captures are still here.

I think it's utterly ridiculous that anybody thinks she should have been weeping uncontrollably or that her lack of conspicuous tears reflects an emotional void of some kind.

Especially when you consider that absolutely nobody behaves naturally with an audience and cameras etc anyway.
If anything, her decision to remain composed instead of affecting some sentimental whimpering reveals tact.
If she'd cried you'd all be complaining that she was putting it on!

    I don't think that's the point everbody's talking about.

Elvis Presley is a dead man in that clip to some fans she came across as emotionless like Elvis is an attraction and she's showing him off.
Elvis is an attraction but he's dead and you are suppose to show some respect for dead people no matter who they are.
It's not a matter of her crying if anybody expects Priscilla to weep hysterically over a man she was married to over 30 years ago and divorced then they are mistaken.

Exactly. He showed more emotion showing their dog lashes in EBTP than here showing Elvis' grave. It's not a matter of crying but it seemed like he was promoting another Elvis new exhibition at Graceland.

I said at the time that a tacky circus like American Idol should never have even visited Graceland!
But we're not talking about some pious respect for the dead argument here- people are criticizing Priscilla's conduct on the occasion- and since visitors to Graceland usually expect to see the Meditation Garden, I'd like you to explain to me what was so incredibly disrespectful about her behavior when the occasion arose.

If this really is all about "showing him off" as you say, then we're discussing a much broader topic and I suggest you set up a picket line outside Graceland immediately!

When you visit anyone's grave you are suppose to show some respect
As I said Priscilla came off to some fans as being cold and emotionless like Elvis was an attraction.
As I said it's very true that Elvis is an attraction but show some respect for the deceased especially when standing over their grave.
Now some fans probably didn't feel that way or really pay much attention to it but for some fans it did came across that way.

On a sidenote Yes, I hate some of the tacky ways Elvis image is presented and that will never change.
I don't blame Priscilla for that because as I've said before she had little to do with the marketing or success of Graceland that came down to the other executors and is now Robert Sillerman's responsibility.
But that's a different dicussion for another time.

Then I suggest that the problem is in the trouble-seeking minds of her critics.

What exactly would have been the acceptable demonstration of emotion? Maybe a quivering lip or a single flicked tear?

The anti-Priscilla campaign has reached a new and desperate low here.

And I think we'd all feel a little emotionally constipated at our own loved-ones' graves if we were accompanied by a film crew and a dozen clowns at the time. The whole thing is way too bizarre to expect an honest emotional reaction beyond the most perfunctory conduct. Under the circumstances, I think she handled it in the most dignified way that any reasonable person could expect.

    Teddy give it up

I'm a skilled debater you'll never beat me

    I already answered you're questions

She wouldn't have to cry or show emotion in that way that's not what people are talking about.

It's kinda like Colonel Parker going to Elvis' funeral dressed in a Hawaiian T-Shirt and baseball cap it wasn't appropriate it came across as cold.

and don't bother saying Priscilla didn't do what Parker did that's not my point it's just that she to came across as a little cold to a lot of people albeit in a different way.

    You really must be joking.

Failing to acknowledge that you've lost does not constitute winning a debate.

I'm missing this 'skill' completely. You haven't actually said anything.

You're still not telling me exactly what she needed to do which would have satisfied the bleeding hearts who considered her "cold and emotionles" that day.
She didn't need to cry- you've at least offered that.
So what did she need to do? What would have been enough?

    Yes, I have

You just don't like the answer

It's no joke about me being right and you wrong about this
    I don't have a sense of humor

For starters Priscilla treated Elvis like an attraction when she showed the American Idol cadets the grave it comes across as cold.
She shouldn't have done that there's a right way and a wrong way to do it.
She did it the wrong way.

I've mentioned this before but I don't get your Priscilla obsession
As I've said Priscilla was quite attractive back in the 60's, 70's and up until the last few years even but not now and you don't know her personally.
But you're obsessed over 64 year old Priscilla with you being almost 30 years younger than her.
    It blows my mind.
Lisa Marie Presley I could understand

Now you would be able to make a salient point here- if you were able to describe for us the "right way" to do it.

But since you won't, you're not saying anything- except that Priscilla is guilty without a fair trial, as usual.

This doesn't really have anything to do with what we're discussing.
However, if you want to judge me for finding an older woman attractive as casually as you judged her for not being sufficiently emotional at her ex-husband's grave while on television, then at least you're making my job of exposing your lack of credibility a lot more straightforward, Mr "Skilled Debater".

We're now at the point where 'Elvis Tribute Artists' are derided for being overweight, 'because it casts him in a negative light', for goodness sake.
Defending Elvis is an insult to his spectacular achievements. He definitely doesn't need my help, and I'm baffled when he is portrayed as helpless by people who appear to have some deep-seated need to be seen to guard his honor. It's as futile as supporting Manchester United.

My appreciation of Elvis is implicit in my presence here.
Consequently, I choose to defend his disproportionately lambasted ex-wife, who has sustained the most ridiculously unfair judgement by so-called Elvis-'fans' for almost half a century now.

I'm just trying to level the playing field here.
