(I tapped this out yesterday morning for TKC)
,,,,,,,My Book arrived well over an Hour ago now...

The postman woke me up... Of course I opened the box - sat down and started giving the book a quick flick through...

One Hour later, I have seen every page... do I need to study it longer... Yes I sure do.

Apart from the short captions.... I haven't read any of the Block Texts and overviews YET.

Breakfast and my first cup of the day... is now over an hour later than when I normally get up... THANKS "ERIK"...

The WOW Factor from seeing a few PDF pages, is enforced even greater. Now I have this work of Art.

One thing I kept thinking, while going from page to page.... WHAT A GREAT ELVIS PRESENTATION.....

Erik.... I can tell you have agonized for hours and hours, to decide which photos should be full page,

and how to give the book Uniformity and a consistency....

I know sometimes a photo will sometimes not lend itself to fitting with the others.......

But you really have managed to achieve a visually great looking LAYOUT.

Apart from One photo, you haven't used two pages to display a picture....

which breaks up the look of a pose, in the deep fold between each page...(a very good decision I feel)

The images are all laid out in a Time Line, from the 1950s to 1976,

this makes it easy to check out all the Elvis occasions, for the future times you would like to check on anything.

A GREAT PIECE OF ELVIS VEGAS HISTORY ~ IN ONE HECK OF A GREAT PACKAGE....

(EPS.... Erik in the 1970s I meet you many times, and remember Pal Grunland and yourself very well........ Almost as interesting for me... is that you have included a more Up-to-date Picture of yourself and Pal "NOW".....
........ on the inside Flap.... such a picture always shows how life has treated yourself... to me it would Seem VERY WELL !)

and... Thankyou Again... for allowing me a copy of your Splendid Work... its very much appreciated...

(Tonight a day later some more thoughts)

Erik sent me a good few PDF Scans a few weeks back.. I didn't think it was fair on the book to post them all (sorry)

My copy arrived yesterday... jotted down a few thoughts (all positive)

Erik sends them out pretty fast, good heavy Thick cardboard wrap around Box, the card at the corners also juts out, so they don't get damaged.

You really can't say this is like any other Elvis book you have seen.. for one thing its VEGAS COMPLETE.. he's thought of everything, all the outside Candid moments, even VIVA LAS VEGAS... Probably not enough Ann Margret (if your a fan-but more than enough ~Elvis) All the '50s visits, a lot of Elvis at other shows, with this many pages, with 1200+ pics, you have to have a cut off point...

Better than anything by Ger Ryff, Shaver, Tunzi... (in fact makes Tunzi's books look mean on photos and pages) When you think his are £35 odd, and if you bought 3 different Tunzi books, it doesn't come close to Erik's One book. Its an Encylopedia of Vegas Elvis Photos.

Not a book to hide in a corner behind anything... more a place of its own, on a perfectly sized coffee table.. (Must go and get one....)

Re: Elvis - The King of Las Vegas

    Got my copy yesterday ...

Have to be honest and say it was a bit of a let-down, especially for the price.

I wish they had found someone to translate the text into English properly ... there are too many things like "42th street in Manhattan" and dozens of other not-quite-right bits and pieces.

Many of the photos are mislabelled, eg the second one of Elvis with "Merv Griffin" is actually with Richard Davis.

"Elvis with Jackie Wilson and his wife" is actually Jackie and singer Vikki Carr.

And there are a couple of on-stage photos from July 1970 ... July?! The engagement is even listed as such in the jumpsuit section.

Again, a proper editor would have been nice. Several sections are ruined by incredibly poor punctuation and graphic style, and there is little consistency.

And no, I'm not being too picky. At AUS$155, I expected - and deserved - better.

The photos overall are fantastic, with some rarities.

I'll have one more flick though it ... then I'm going to sell it to someone for the price I paid.

    It's far from a must-have, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the update, I'll have to wait until I receive mine, to see what I think.

will scorn. Where LOVE will bless the earth
    and peace its paths adorn...

Thanks, for the review Getlo. I have to agree...at that price, one should expect more. No offense to anyone.

The photos sound great, but at this time of year I won't be getting this book...too close to lol
