I don't know if I could date one after I'd seen his show, maybe if I didn't know that he was an ETA at the begining? I know, it doesn't make sense to me either.

There was a young man thatwas in high school with my daughter who was an Elvis impersonator, very talented young man. Still sings from what I hear.

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

I agree completely May!!! It's too bad she doesn't see things that way....

I've always told him that I feel bad for him, especially since she could have been upfront about this before they got married (she wasn't) so that he could have made up his mind whether or not he wanted to give it a try knowing how she truly felt. Elvis is and has always been a big part of his life, and she even has a problem with him and I chatting about Elvis, so he usually winds up calling me when he isn't home just to avoid ticking her off!!!

So I guess the moral of this story is to make sure you know exactly what you are getting into if you are planning on dating or marrying an Elvis tribute artist!!

I can't understand why this woman hasn't become an Elvis fan when she's surrounded by him at home with her hubbie being an ETA?
If someone is ignorant of Elvis' talent, so be it, but when you are faced with his music daily............how can she not come to love his music, and his looks of course? Is she blind and deaf

That would be a good excuse, but no....for some reason, she just doesn't like Elvis and gets all upset whenever the man's name is mentioned!!!

Personally, I can't understand how someone could be like that....but of course being the Elvis fan that I am, I'm probably a bit biased...

Elvis was one of the main things my wife and I discussed when we were first dating. She knew what a huge Elvis fan I was when we were dating and that I had been collecting Elvis stuff since I was about 5 years old, and she also knew I wasn't going to give it up. Clearly, having a family would certainly curtail my spending habits on my Elvis collection but I was still going to always be on the hunt for that next great piece of Elvis memorabilia and she has always been SUPER supportive of that!!! She was even with me when I bought my scarf that Elvis used at one of his shows and we popped open a bottle of sparkling juice to celebrate....she is just so supportive and I certainly couldn't imagine being married to someone who didn't at least understand my passion for Elvis!!! I don't expect her to be the die-hard fan I am, but as long as she can appreciate my obsession, then that is fine with me!!!

Re: Would you ever date an Elvis Impersonator?

This is a great question. My wife was a judge for Elvis Tribute Artist/Impersonator Contest for years because of how much she knows about Elvis, and her mom too. JAK knows them. My wife always told people she would never marry a Elvis guy because she's been around the business for 15+ years. She has seen it all and then some.

But then I came along we where friends for long time before I got into the business. What I think attracted me to my wife more than anything. She does not have a jealous bone in her body. She will sit in the back of the room, hall, casino, what ever and let me do my thing. People sometimes don't even knows she's there unless she films the show for me.

Its also being hard being the wife too because then you have those Elvis fans that really don't know us and judge us. And come up to you and say wannabe and etc. I normally don't say anything but the wife has few times let loose on some women and men that said that to me. LOL

    Love to all,
    Tim

The South Bend area has always had many impersonators working the circut up there.I think you will agree that many people dont realize how the impersonator's get followed around by the women.Usually there is a hardcore group that follow them to show to show.I think that jumpsuit works magic somehow. It can be very troubiling for the spouse. The guys who have been doing it for years like Irv Cass have a devoted following.

No, I wouldn´t date an impersonater! I hate it when people try to be like Elvis. It would be something else if someone resembles Elvis without doing it on purpose.

Oh, ummm, back to the question (sorry), would I date an Elvis impersonator? Yes - no reason why not. Not sure my husband would like the idea........but maybe I could disguise it as one of my "separate interests" !!!
I have to agree...how can you grow without being your own person?

True-my wife was a Cat Stevens/Moody Blues fan when we met-she did not know much about Elvis-except the movies and a few songs.
So she has acquired the appreciation and respect for him in the 36 years we have been married.
We saw him in 1976-and its a very funny story I know I have told before here but worth retelling
While Jackie Kahanne was doing his jokes my friends wife wanted to use the restroom before Elvis came out-naturally she wanted my wife to go with her.
Many other ladies went also-and a few minutes later-2001s music began-the restroom cleared out quick-the restroom was below where we were sitting (Noselbleed seats) and so my wife came out to start up the steps to our seats and the drum roll started and Elvis walked out flashbulbs popped everywhere the crowd of 12,000 roared and Elvis did his walk from one end of the stage to the other-he looked in the "general direction" of my wife when he came to that side-and he looked up and smiled
MY wife came running back to her seat and yelled
"HE SMILED AT ME HE SMILED AT ME!!!!!" .................................................. ...............
he looked up into 6000 people on that side of the stage but she was sure he had smiled at her and no one else.
    The power of ELVIS
    Work in Progress!
