I am a huge fan of Richard Hawley and was at the opening night of his latest tour here in Yorkshire last week....I was totally gobsmacked to find out on his site that last night he was joined on stage in London by Lisa......here's the story.... from The Daily Record
Ex-Pulp guitarist Richard Hawley helps Elvis' daughter relaunch music career
Oct 9 2009
ELVIS PRESLEY'S daughter has enlisted the help of Mercury Prize-nominated musician Richard Hawley to relaunch her pop music career.
Lisa Marie Presley appeared onstage with Hawley as a surprise guest during his concert last night to announce their songwriting partnership.
Former Pulp and Longpigs guitarist Hawley recently rejuvenated the career of Amarillo singer Tony Christie and is currently working with Dame Shirley Bassey on her comeback album. He has also written for Robbie Williams and Nancy Sinatra.
Presley, who appeared at London's 02 Shepherd's Bush Empire, said she chose to collaborate with rockabilly crooner Hawley after she became a fan of his music.
The two have already written a couple of songs together - one of which, Weary, they performed together last night.
Speaking after the concert, Presley said: "I wrote the lyrics, Richard wrote the music. I am the first person he has written a song for in that way."
She added that the collaboration had so far been top secret, and that her decision to go on stage was spur of the moment.
Presley said: "I only knew I was coming on stage four hours ago. I was working with Richard today and we decided that I should go on, so I didn't have long to think about it."
But the singer, once married to Michael Jackson, said she was happier going on stage in the UK than in America.
She added: "I hadn't been on stage for a long time but I felt better about doing here. People are more music-focused here than they are in America. There when you go on stage you feel like they're going to rip you to shreds, here everyone is very welcoming."
Presley has recorded two previous albums, To Whom It May Concern and Now What, the most recent in 2005.
But she said there is no game plan for her comeback at present other than to write more songs with Hawley, whom she described as a "lovely man" and a "good friend".
She also denied her 17-year-old son Benjamin was following in her and her father's footsteps by going into music.
"He's just a student and has no plans to be a rock star," she said.....

Thanks for that.
To be honest though... I don`t know Richard Hawley!!!...Promise I`ll check him out on youtube next time I`m there though!!
Never really thought about the added pressure on Lisa in America before... can see why she`d be more at ease in England though.
I hope everything turns out for Lisa the way she hopes it will.
Thanks so much for the article Jean

Thanks for sharing that Jean! I wonder was there any pictures of the event? I wish Lisa all the best.
great to hear that Lisa is back making music...I like her music... she also met up with a Scottish band called Glasvvegas last year... hope they record a track together... that would be brilliant

ELVIS FOREVER!!
Lisa is beautiful, no doubt about that, and have any of you noticed the makeover Kevin Aucoin did with Lisa Marie in '97 she is a dead ringer for Marilyn Monroe.
It's on my album cover..also on social page Elvis69 I think
Anyway, I feel Lisa would do her best as a writer, her memoirs or her life in general, the future, he thoughts, like an open journal.
There is a lot of Elvis in her, a lot of pain and sadness too.
"I just wanna be......your Teddy Bear"
Thanks Jean.
Lisa Marie gets to tour internationally even though Elvis never did?
Thanks friend![]()
Thanks jean... glad she enjoys the uk!

I would not single her out for dragging things out-most of the new crop of artists seem to take forever to produce a new album 2-4 years.
Even people like U2 take forever and they have been around a while.
I'm not sure why they take so long-all this remixing and rerecording-its like they are unsure of their talent or the sound they want.![]()
Work in Progress!
It's just the way the music business is now
if Elvis were alive and recording in the 80's and 90's he'd come out with an album every 2-5 years.
I single Lisa out because she was writing and recording her first album for 15 years.
she has a tendency to take longer than a lot of other artists.
It also no guarantee that Lisa will release a third album she doesn't have a record deal.
