Elvis would probably tell Lisa to her face that he liked her songs but secretly he wouldn't like any of them

If Elvis didn't like Bob Dylan's singing he wouldn't like LMP.

plus her songs have that 90's rock sound and Elvis didn't even like the 70's rock sound so he definately wouldn't like the 90's rock sound.

Oh Brian Another "famous" Marty Lacker "comment" you are quoting.

Lisa is great, besides Elvis having adored her, some of us (me) loves her more recent stage persona, her freedom, her sense of humour, I could quite easily laugh my head off in her company. Same as Pink, they are fun women

Lisa has a lot of great songs

Perhaps Elvis may have liked a song with some attitude, lol. "I d i o t"

People can sink into Lisa's lyrics, they are deep, full of feeling and meaning.

No, this has nothing to do with him.

I know Elvis didn't like the harder rock groups from the 70's
I got that from the fact that none are in his record collection

If Elvis did have some hard rock bands in his collection than it might be different.

A lot of people don't like Bob Dylan's singing voice including me and Lisa's reminds me of his in some ways.
I bet Elvis didn't like Bob Dylan's actual singing because it tends to annoy people.

If Bob Dylan had a better singing voice he could've been the biggest singer in the history of the world same with LMP.

Why would it be a bad thing that Elvis didn't like his daughters singing or songs.
Elvis was from an entirely different generation

I honestly haven't listened to Lisa's cds enough to speculate on a song that Elvis would
have liked. I do think that because it is Lisa, he would have tried to like whatever she
did. I do think he would have helped her with her music. And, I like to think that if he
had lived and she had pursued a music career, it would have been more in line with the
type of music that he did. I like to think that; but, I know the young don't always follow
in their elder's footsteps. One more thought, if he had lived and she had pursued her own
musical direction, perhaps she would have influenced him more into her kind of music!!! That could have been a good thing, or not!!!

Brian, didn't the really good ones only just start appearing in 1977. AC/DC for instance, 1973 - but may have taken a while to be known in The States, lol (Aussie bands, lol, rofl ).

I'm not fussed on Dylan, either, yet I love Lisa

Cause in my opinion, it's impossible - parents love their kids and should support them, in their interests. It's a bonus that Lisa happens to be very talented. If Lisa came to Aussie again - I'd be there

Maybe the remake of Dirty Laundry but It's really a tough question to answer cause I could see Elvis admiring her efforts but he also had such a sensitive ear to music. He'd stop the band at times when a part was off or the tempo was too fast or slow. If anything, with his polite way of not hurting her feelings he might have told her, he didn't get the current music sound. but then again, Elvis might have coached her or have Charlie do it but in all honesty, I really think her carrying out a tune abilities came from her mother's side of the family. Elvis had a such a natural smoothness about him that I don't hear in Lisa.

Elvis was a purist. He appreciated truly great vocals. One spin of a Lisa Marie cd and he would have pulled out his 45 colt and wasted it.
Having said that,I actually like some of her stuff.

bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss he didn't like those bands. They were around in the late 60's except for Kiss.
He didn't even like the Rolling Stones so seeing as how Lisa's music is of that 90's indie rock sound like Alanna Morrisett and others he probably wouldn't of liked her music all that much.

Elvis could still love and support Lisa but not like her music.

That said Lisa Marie sounds like Cher, Sheryl Crow and Wynonna Judd and she has that early 90's women's singer-songwriter sound but in my opinion waited too long to come out with a CD. Now if she came out with a record in the early 90's and had more time to develop and practice her stage performance she could've been more successful because she would have fit in better and gotten more experience under her belt.

I like 2 of her songs Dirty Laundry and her song *****.

Wow, comparing or say Lisa sounds like Wynonna Judd or Cher.

If that were true, which its not, I think Lisa would have had a better singing career don't you?

    Yes, it's true

Her voice does but she can't sing as good

Just because her singing voice sounds like those 2 is no guarantee of a better career.

I don't think Cher of Wynonna Judd are particularly good singers but they are okay.
Lisa's got a deep husky voice like they do when they sing.

Brian, I don't know how you can claim you know anything for sure, with all due respect.

Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, aren't the same as Accadacca nor other hard rock bands that followed, they were a different sound again.

Again, Brian, lots of assumptions, you could be right, or very wrong, with all due respect.

It all comes down to taste and our opinions (of course) Brad.

Lisa's lyrics have meaning, they are deep, that's what I like, an awful lot.

    I'd prefer Lisa any day

    i'm not making any assumptions

it's just a fact that Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath started in the late 60's and Kiss started around 1973 and they are all considered Hard Rock acts.

I certainly consider them hard rock acts

It's pretty common knowledge Elvis didn't like harder rock or hard rock
    lots of

Everybody says he didn't from Jerry Schilling to George Klein to Priscilla.
if it were just one person that said he didn't you could say well maybe they don't know or something but everybody says he hated it.
Given that Elvis was in his mid 30's when hard rock started coming out I believe it because people his age generally weren't into that kind of music.

Black Sabbath was pretty out there and so was Led Zeppelin actually.
I bet Elvis never even heard of Black Sabbath.

I know groups like the Animals and the Beatles were in his record collection but not any of those hard rock bands
So I think it's fair to say he wasn't a fan.

I think elvis would be pleased that his daughter did something with her talent... and she choose singing, i imagine he would have his favorite songs, not sure which he would have liked the most.

IMO Elvis would have loved all Lisa's music and I'm sure he would have had his favorites. He would have been so proud of her and would have given advice when she asked for it and supported her every step of the way. She is such a talented song writer and I admire the fact that she puts her emotions into her songs and shares them with the world a very brave thing to do IMO. Elvis wouldn't compare her to another artist cos she's just Lisa, she has her own style and voice.

Elvis' style of music changed with time too from the 50s being totally different to the 70s, so IMO he would have kept up to date with modern music, to me he was always on the pulse with music, he would never be stuck in time with it therefore that's one of the reasons why I say he would love all his daughter's music.
You ask how long I love you, I'll tell you true,
until the Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you

I have only heard a few. I can't get past the voice to appreciate words. can't imagine anyone buying a c.d. for the lyrics only. but her dad would be proud I think. you can be proud and say the music is not your taste. I bet there are other parents that felt that way. if I had a kid that did rap, I sure would.

I'm in agreement with you. Can't say I've heard enough to comment generally.
