Elvis Aaron Presley passed away on the 16 August 1977.

IMO his spirit lives on through his music and in our hearts so with this in mind, I wish people would let him rest in peace and celebrate his life and the legacy of his music he left behind and stop trying to resurrect him.
You ask how long I love you, I'll tell you true,
until the Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you

It's heartbreaking to read, pulls no punches and describes the embalming procedure, dressing him etc...for the funeral.
There's no way in front of all the family members, they could cover it up. He was on view to too many people..They had to re-apply the make-up bacause of the heat and deterioation

Thank you, Deb!! They did, in fact, have to do a bit of 'touch-up' work to the makeup that day but everything actually ran pretty smoothly during the viewing and the actual funeral, although, Mr. Kendall (now deceased) got a little irritated when he found out that they had extended the viewing another thirty minutes - he actually got pretty upset and PO'd that no one had notified him that the viewing had been extended an extra thirty minutes.

Overall, the book is a good read but it does have errors in it - especially where moving Elvis and Gladys back to Graceland is concerned. He puts the dates down as being mid-November, 1977 - and this is totally off-the-mark because the bodies were moved on October 2, 1977.

Another good book to read is "Elvis: What Really Happened?" by Charles C. Thompson & James P. Cole which goes into much more detail about the actual autopsy that the Kendall book - it's not for the faint of heart.

    AGREED & AMEN!!!

(Frankly, since the "Is Elvis Alive?" controversy is such a 'hot topic' and seems to cause so much dissention, I think - and I'm not speaking for the Mods here - that there should be a rule against bringing up the "Is Elvis Alive?" topic because it does nothing but conjur up anger against other board members - what do you think, Matt?).
