the songs i would pick are how greqat thou art to start it all off.we call on him would be a nice filler and wile they weel me to my final resting place why not i've got a feeling in my body.
Lots of great choices already made here.
One I would strongly consider is If We Never Meet Again. It's certainly appropriate for that kind of occasion, and especially touching, having been given the Elvis treatment. Just beautiful.
Soon we'll come to the end of life's journey
And perhaps never meet anymore
Till we gather in heaven's bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore
If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the side of the river of life
Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separations come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore
...you won't forget me when I go.
If I go the song for ol times sake will be played
Before you go walk out on me
Take a look around tell me what you see
Here I stand like an open book
Is there something here you might have overlooked
'Cause it would be a shame if you should leave
And find that freedom ain't what you thought it would be
The years we had were not all bad
In fact I know the good outweighed the bad
Now you say that you've grown tired
You want to be by yourself a while
It would be a shame if you should go
And find that freedom was a long, long time ago
I know that you can't stand the chains that bind you
They just keep on drivin' us apart
You could go where I could never find you
But could you go far enough to get away from your heart
So one more time, for ol' times sake
Come and lay your head upon my chest
Please don't throw this moment away
We can forget the bad and take the best
If you don't have nothing left to say
Let me hold you one more time for ol' times sake
If you don't have nothing left to say
Let me hold you one more time for ol' times sake

about time there was some fun threads on here
ive changed my funeral songs to------
AMERICAN TRILOGY ( when ALL the people come in )
IF I CAN DREAM (DURING THE SERVICE)
BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY ( WHEN THEY ALL LEAVE FOR THE PUB)
LETS BE FRIENDS!
you'll never walk alone
I agree with you Riley. Plus I would like Just Pretend, How Great Thou Art and maybe also If I Can Dream.
I have selected Burning Love as my coffin goes in for cremation!! After all it is but a body and you gotta have a sense of humour at the darkest moments!!!
Memphis Flash!
Yup, that would definitely be mine too Lonnie. If We Never Meet Again. I plan on meeting all my loved ones on that beautiful shore (pets included).
Diane
This is certainly food for thought Geordie
The songs I would choose are:-
How Great Thou Art (my fave gospel song) (before the service)
Today, Tomorrow and Forever (its a special song to me) (during the service)
Forget Me Never (this song I would dedicate to all my family, friends and my soul mate) (after the service)
If I should go, forget me never
Please say that you'll remember me
I pray the dreams we share together
Will shine on in your memory
Each time a star falls out of heaven
It leaves the sky a deeper blue
So if we part, forget me never
And don't forget my love for you
And don't forget my love for you
