You don't like it ,you don't have to listen, easy as that...But...we have Elvis in our hearts and if even for one moment let pretend we can have him on stage, in Austria, Holland, UK or Romania. It's a wonderful dream, it's life it's how to move on after 16 August.

Jon I agree in a way,but as long as they do it for free.I paid $100 to see one of them and i walked out crying. They're making money trying to be Elvis. Is all about $$$$.It makes me angry. And you're right.I don't have to see them.I will not!!Ever again.

Well Ayda, mabe you went at the wrong show.I'm from Romania, many artists in here could make you commit suicide...but i've saw Ellis Criss in one of his shows, and as you said he has a good voice, and the orchestra behind him was fantastic. He has his own music but performs Elvis on stage too.I've heard a lot of impersonator and they sound bad, mabe too much of them singing so bad made a lot of people hate impersonators.I just say that i need Elvis' music and get it from everywhere, his music is a celebration by deffinition.

I agree with you 100% Jon. No matter who sings Elvis's songs they are keeping him alive. "There was and always will be only one Elvis" but it sure would be sad if the world forgot him. He was the greatest singer in the world and I belive the world loves him. I have seen some bad impersonators too but it just makes me appreciate Elvis More.( I have also seem some good ones) Would love to see Ellis Criss perform because he does sound like Elvis.. and it brings back great memories of the King. Ayda, as far as me performing in public, i already have heaps of times, but i have'nt done promised land yet. but don't worry, i've gotten good response for the performances, excellent actually. i would'nt make Elvis a fool ever, i'd hate it if i did.

i'm with you too. i don't like Elvis impersonators either if they do that stupid mumble and wig and jumpsuit etc. if its done with respect, own style, own voice etc then i take my hat off to them

I am so happy that you feel that way too. I think Elvis would of liked you very much and it is the young people like you that will keep Elvis alive and still going years from now. Hats off to you and keep singing those Elvis songs. Dovey

    Hi,

Just thought I'd post a live picture of Richard Atkins (part of the Rockin On Heaven's Door band).

    Better look twice...

I just realised I did a big injustice to Ellis Criss, saying he is an impersonator. Actually, he is an ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist).

He is not wearing jumpsuits, silly haircuts, he is not trying to look like Elvis, act like Elvis and , for sure, he is not thinking HE IS Elvis.

He has his own music, and he sings Elvis songs too. And he is just lucky to have that wonderful, Elvis-like voice.

I don't know if Jon can help you, but I know I can.
Ellis Criss sings in Romania, so I guess it would be difficult for you to see him.
I attended several concerts and he was kind enough to let us videotape his performances.

    You are welcome !

Unfortunatelly, the quality of the recording is not what Ellis Criss deserves, but I think it will help you to get an idea.

If you want more, you can go to Amazing Elvis - Ellis Criss Tribute.
In the database there, you will find URLs for many songs performed by Ellis Criss, and a few videos, too.

    Enjoy !

I personally don't like impersonators of Elvis.
Because they try to sing like Elvis and don't even sound like him.
I don't like on them on TV talent shows.

    There's only one Elvis.

Often times its just an excuse to be fat and sing. Why are ther more fat Elvis imperonators than thin ones????????????/

  17. #137
I don't like Elvis impersonators as a rule because of those who give him a bad image, fat, bad wig, can't move or sing etc. but I agree with elvisdownunder that without the bad trappings and singing Elvis songs as a tribute is a very great compliment to him and does help to keep him alive.

    honor

God makes it hard being king.

I think it's great hearing those songs being played over and over again. Of course, it doesn't mean that a musician should limit his,- or herself exclusively to Elvis-songs. There's so much world to see!

Wouldn't classical composers from earlier centuries be dissapointed if they found out nobody ever interpreted their music? It was an honor, in fact.

Like I said in my previous post if the imitators do in in good taste and other people enjoy them well good for them but I just come away with a sense of disappointment and depressed because to me no one is ever close to the real thing. Even the so-called top Elvis impersonators........

    unique

I guess the best thing would be for the artists to interpret an Elvis song. I remember Willie Nelson singing and playing 'Blue Hawaii', and it was not like Elvis' version. I liked the guitar part very much - a very distinctive sound and a nice, unique interpretation.

I don't really like the idea of 'dressing up and acting like Elvis'. I can imagine wearing a suit based on karate-clothing, but that's for practical purposes only.
