Hey everybody!
I don't know if any of you members drive a car yourself.. but I suppose it's more important than fruit and vegetables and just as important as smoking cigarettes. Well, if you're like my father that is. He owns a Ferrari bought with my blood.
Anyway, I recentlystumbleduponanarticlewhichmentions Elvis drove a Ferrari.. Oh darn, have I been on those uppers again?
The article is in German, but I'll try to mention the most important things:
http://www.mabroselvisworld.com/Ferr...rrarielvis.htm
On October the 5th of 1976 Elvis flies to Los Angeles to spend some days with Linda Thompson in her new apartment. In Hollywood he buys a used black Ferrari 308 GT4 for 20.583 dollars. It is mentioned he also meets private detective John O' Grady who advises him to be more active trying to prevent "Elvis, What Happened" from.. happening!
Forty-two days after ordering his car (another jungle room session had taken place in the mean time), the vehicle is brought to Graceland on November the 16th by a Ryder Rental Truck, licensed 1-DA 482 (the Ferrari, that is).
Elvis was supposed to enjoy speeding, but what's the point in trying to arrest him? Police officers who reasoned with him were probably more interested in Elvis and his car rather than delivering a fine.
I also read that Italian fans came to see him in 1972 and when asked what he would appreciate from that country, it was a Ferrari. A few years later he got it!
It's good to have a guy like Elvis drive the car. I'm a member of the Ferrari bulletin board, as I understand racing to such a degree. A person without a driver's license or car is able to give some insight in technical and strategic matters.
I'd only recommend Ferrari not to have people such as my father or the Dutch prime-minister drive these cars, if they can prevent it. I feel they belong walking behind the butt of a horse as close as possible, that's where they belong!
I only copied hysterical.. historical facts from sources on the internet, so if there are some flaws, don't send me to jail for it..

Don't worry, it's a metaphor. What he has done is even against the law. He was supposed to care for me - financially - until I was 21. If I were to get back this money, I'd have thousands of dollars calculated from euros.
But as is normal in such a country he gets away with it and doesn't give a **** about how I live. He has a good salary, but as a kid I used to wear second-hand clothing, suffered from food shortages.. now it's impossible to get education.
He only spent money to smoke me out with his cheap tobacco.

That part got to me really bad, what did O Grady mean by become more active to prevent the book from being published, by loosing weight and getting himself together, or trying to BS Red and Sonny out of writing it![]()
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

Well Elvis did got his ferrari with nothing but a live of hard work and without stepping anyone by doing it, yet, fruit and vegetables seems to me could have been more important to his inflated self at the time.
Anyhow, love the ferrari, but I have always been much more of a fan of the Yellow not bullet proof Pantera he got years earlier.
He emptied a gun to his Pantera, and if I'm not mistaken, I think he crashed the ferrari once because of speeding, way to go Elvis.
