We have it growing in our yard. Some cats are susceptible to it others are not but the ones that are are fun to watch.

LOL, Jen, I laughed at your reply. I thought the Catnip was an "Old Wives Tail" I didn't know, lol.

Does the Catnip do any harm?

Not to sure if its harmless or not but l'am guessing not since l get mine out of the pet store (diane might be able to fill us in more here)

My kitten is only 2 months old and she is nuts so l give her catnip on her little bear((yes my cat loves a childs bear) and she does her funny flip flops and goes to sleep so it settles her down...if l didn't do that we have no sleep in this house lol. Before l got the catnip she used to pounce on my son when he was sleeping and wake anthony up with him saying mommy the cat jumped on me..ohh l got some funny moments on my house.

Nope it's not harmful. Cat do give us a lot of enjoyment and loving times don't they?

Two month old kittens are the best fun to watch..those arched backs and sideways hops are hilarious!!!

    Re: Catnip

OMGosh, Diane? lol, can you share anything more? lol

That's amazing too, that some cats aren't affected by it.

If it is harmless, the look on their faces was priceless, and the way it affected them further! wow......

Now with my strange sense of humour, I wonder about horses, if they have a great deal of it, lol

When we find a kitten, we'll have to see about Catnip, too, lol.

Although, my border collie used to walk on window sills when a puppy, who has heard of that? lol he was also raised with cats and kittens, and he still jumps in the air like a cat does, it looks quite odd, lol. He also walks backwards on his legs, to look out of windows, lol, or jumps on tables to see out (when he doesn't think he'll be caught)...... lol.

So, I wonder the damage that a kitten and our still silly, adorable, two year old dog would do with a kitten and catnip, lol

It is very harmless. Veterinary clinics even sell it in cat toys. They generally like to roll on the toys and rub their faces on them.

We sometimes break down and bring some sprigs from our plants in the house but it's messy....bits of plants end up all over the floors.

I don't understand why your federal government won't order special forces to break in the door and bust in wherever catnip may be found.

Anyway.. gotta love cats. You'll find no cat's the same!
all the goons I left behind,

Cats are different and special, no doubt about it and yes very individual.
