OK, I need to vent a little.
For the last two weeks, I've been wondering - what the heck is the TV Guide Network doing? They've been broadcasting nothing but Michael Jackson documentaries for the last two weeks at least. Not only that, but they are all the same shows day in and day out. I've looked on their menu for tomorrow 8/16, and nothing but Michael Jackson, on Elvis' death anniversary.

The only mention of Elvis tomorrow is that show they've shown a hundred times already - Elvis And Michael, A Tale Of Two Kings. I also looked on Monday's menu and I see more Michael, so obviously, it's continuing into next week.
My first question is, how does TVGN expect to boost or even keep their ratings if they show the same exact shows every day for weeks? Are people really that MJ-crazy now that they're watching this every day? If you're gonna be the 24-hour MJ channel, at least mix it up and show some videos, concerts, movies (what little he had), etc.
Secondly, is every day Michael Jackson Day now? I don't think so. His birthday's coming up 8/29, so it's OK to dedicate that day to him, as well as 6/25. But uh, every day - including an anniversary of another huge entertainment icon? I celebrate Elvis A LOT during his anniversaries (birthday and death), and a little bit every month on average, but NOT every day! I do have other interests.
I smell a plot to try to make MJ into the biggest entertainment star ever, bigger than he really was, by continuously shoving him down people's throats, which on the flip side, would just backfire and make people tired of him faster. I expect there to be an MJ craze for months because of the way the media is now. I know the same thing happened when Elvis died and the hype over him would've been even bigger if he died today. So that doesn't bother me so much. MJ's still in the news occasionally and other channels show him sparingly. That doesn't bother me. TVGN is the channel that's irritating me right now, because it's been ALL MICHAEL JACKSON ALL DAY for the last 2 weeks that I know of, and it's obviously going to continue up to his birthday and I'm wondering if it's gonna go beyond that. And they're covering him at the expense of another icon (a bigger icon than MJ, but I won't go into that unless there's an MJ fan who shows up here wanting to debate it). Is MJ big enough that he deserves his own personal channel? I think not.
MAYBE his own satellite radio channel (though I personally don't think so), but his own regular TV channel? Sorry, but no. No single entertainer, not even Elvis, deserves that, unless it's a special subscription channel you have to pay for, not a free channel on regular satellite TV.
What does everyone on this forum think? What is TVGN's motivation for showing MJ all day every day for weeks, and how do they expect to keep or boost their ratings, and who's behind this?
