I believe I was just stating that Frank did see Elvis in person.
Contrary to what was stated. ...."Frank never saw Elvis live."
As the clip shows, they were both in that show. They saw each other "live."
    Sorry if it confused anyone.

Actually my question was about Frank seeing Elvis live in Las Vegas when he returned in 69-but it was implied from the previous posts concerning this.
    Sorry for not being clearer.

Maybe Frank saw one, or more of his shows in '69.

A picture with Frank Sinatra and Fred Astaire, it was made at Nancy Sinatra's opening night party, which was also celebrating the closing night for Elvis, at the International Hotel in Las Vegas (August 29, 1969).

The party was for Nancy's opening, Elvis was merely a guest.

I recall a long article with several pictures in Photoplay magazine about Elvis and Priscilla attending that opening party for Nancy....those were the days!

OK... I was not sure. Frank didn't see his Vegas shows in 1970 either? I just wondered.

I suppose either one of them cared to attend each other's shows.

The answer is rather simple, I think.

Although Elvis admired - and later came to love - Frank, the simplest explanation is that, ultimately, Frank's music wasn't Elvis' type.

When Elvis went to see Vegas shows in the 60s and the early 70s, his tastes ran to people like Ike and Tina Turner, Vicki Carr, Timi Yuro, Jackie Wilson, Tom Jones et al. These are the people he went out to see.

Frank, with all due respect to him, didn't rock in the way Elvis liked.

And vice versa: while Frank thought of Elvis as a friend, Elvis' music wasn't to Frank's taste.

I don't think either of them wanted to waste a night seeing a type of music that didn't really grab them.

I think they had a great mutual respect for each other-after the initial 50s explosion-but had little in common in all other aspects of life.

Ken Sharp's book is one of those which is an ESSENTIAL inclusion in any serious Elvis library!

I got my book and it is indeed wonderful! Lots of great little anecdotes, too. It's still by my bedside, so I can pick it up and peruse any time I want!
