In the soon to be released book, 'An Uncommon Journey' author Lamar Fike recalls when David Bowie wrote a song for the King.
"In 1976, David's then-wife Angela Bowie, visited us all at the now-defunct International in Las Vegas, and she brought with her a song David had written especially for Elvis, 'The Prettiest Star'.
She was a bit under the weather so she didn't get to stay for the show, but gave me the song to give to Elvis. We were terrifically excited to get something from one of the new emerging acts on the music scene. Elvis was always very much aware of the next thing, and, at that point it was Bowie.
"Fike has also written a screenplay to accompany the book entitled '57-60: One of the Boys.' "The screenplay is currently with several film companies in N. Y. and L. A. Fike expects to be able to announce a deal in about 90 days."

The song is terrible it wasn't actually written for Elvis but released by David Bowie himself as a single in the U.K. in 1969 where it didn't do very well.
To me the song sounds weird and David Bowie sounds like a woman on it.
I wouldn't say that
I'd say maybe Bowie's wife got a tape of his song and brought to Lamar for Elvis to record. Lamar is under the impression that David wrote the song specifically for Elvis because he's not a fan and is not familiar with Bowie's material the song is rather obscure it was released in 1969 where it bombed then a few years later was released as an album track on one of David's albums for RCA. You'd have to be a big fan of David Bowie to know the song is not an original.
The song isn't A side hit single material but more like album filler
I can't imagine Elvis liking it it's rather weird both lyrically and musically.
And What About Bowie's song "Golden Years" Write For Elvis ?
I would love to see something like a link or something to prove your right brain.

Sometimes Priscilla will come across as being very vague about Elvis music and career like knowing certain songs but not having a real deep knowledge of the music.
She also stated many times that Elvis wasn't selling out his concerts the last couple years of his life when we all know he was selling out places until the very end.
I bet Priscilla doesn't know about songs like Sylvia, Find out what's happening, Until it time for you to go, All I needed was the rain etc. the really obscure songs actually in interviews Lisa Marie comes across as having a deeper knowledge of the songs Elvis recorded than Priscilla.
David Bowie's wife probably knew a lot of songs of his but not every single song.
