Ive never heard of this footage either.
Can someone answer a question for me. Before Graceland was opened to the public in the eighties, fans were allowed up to the gravesite. Were they charged? (before Vernon died)
hmmmAfter reading everyone's comments and doing a bit more research then I have I think my opinion has changed because if Graceland was Elvis' sanctuary and not a whole lotta people were allowed to breach it.
Ive never heard of this footage either.

Thank you. I didn't think so and we went there a few months after Elvis died, but I was too young to remember how we actually got in. I just remember the pool and Uncle Vester.

I don't think there is footage because if it was it would've been included during the broadcast of EIC.
When it pertains to Elvis if something was shot it doesn't remain unreleased.
I remember seeing EOT and their was footage of Vernon and Elvis riding horses at Graceland.
The filmakers of EOT were allowed to shoot at Graceland and it was a part of the documentary.

Don't feel bad for not knowing cause you know now buddy.
It isn't a fact yet but a website listing every footage filmed on Elvis, stated that CBS filmed an interview with Elvis by his swimming pool. There has been no evidence of this not even photos of the interview. My guess is that if there ever was such an interview it was done the same time Vernon was filmed in June.
..lets say elvis mabye made some strange remark about how his life was going or something wierd
..shortly later he passed away..and they canned it not to stirr controversy....im tired of hearing it never happened no way no sir..yes sir it happened
prob is its canned 4 life we will never see it
i mean just lookie at the CBS 77SPECIAL..EPE WONT EVEN DARE repackage REdO IT AND officialy RELEASE the darn thing 32 years and still in the vaults gathering dust.... there so afraid of the cbs special imagine what they think of the pool footage there shaking in there boots..
..so anything is possible
.. and the thingy about graceleand was his sanctuary a holyplace..his fav place to be yes..but lots of things wnet on there we dont know about and never will know about
.. just my opinion...

Well I have been a fan since 62-so I guess I am a die hard fan-but I do not know this to be true but I know of the "rumor"
I do not recall any mention in 1977 of CBS crews having recently been at Graceland in any of the old magazines and fan club newsletters I have from back then. I can tell you we may not have had the internet-but fan club newsletters carried any information of consequence back then and of the 3 clubs I was a member of none mention any filming at Graceland-the future special is mentioned and the filming in Rapid City and Omaha is mentioned as a "start" for the upcoming tv show. But there is no mention of any filming an interview at Graceland with Elvis. That is exactly the kind of info that was in fan newsletters.
Also EPE may have total control of the footage today.... but in 77 CBS contractually had the right to put together what ever show they wanted for their broadcast-if they had any footage of Elvis in interview I have no doubt they would have used it for their broadcast.
I understand your point about Elvis maybe saying something or acting strange and that might be a reason for it not being aired....but...thats exactly the kind of thing that would have ended up in The Enquirer, or the Star if there was any hint that Elvis had given an interview and it had been deemed to strange to air-they would have got a transcript or a copy one way or another (that was their bread and butter-as the coffin photo shows)
but there was no mention of it in any tabloid in 77 after he died that I can recall.
I would give this "rumor" a less than 2% chance of ending up true.
Work in Progress!
Unfortunately newspaper articles often get things not quite right-or totally off base-as do TV newscasts, and radio newscasts.
Print is worse because after its printed-you can not collect all the copies and burn them. If they retract or correct-someone still has the incorrect information.
If I posted every newspaper article-which had prime facts completely wrong-this forum would be tied up for months.
I could post hundreds of incorrect info on the Kennedy assasination from even weeks after the murder.

You may be right. I believe we have the CBS out takes now because of the movie, THIS IS ELVIS. I'm just guessing here that when they went into the vaults for footage someone made a copy. Then when they were remastered the second time. I know I have 3 versions of THIS IS ELVIS. The CBS footage looks different on all three. The original they adjusted the contrast and it made the film look grainy. The video release it was clear and then the added footage version had added Love Me and it looked even sharper.
I found this new YouTube video and I Believe if Elvis was interviewed it was probably the day when Vernon was filmed when they cut into Elvis singing, Can't Help Falling In Love @ 0:25. They are saying it's June 22, 1977. The day after the Rapid City show. but they show Vernon walking around Graceland.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Elvis introduced Vernon on June 26th not unless the Vernon interview was at the hotel room or backstage but still it's the day after Rapid City.
Or the Graceland shots where done after the tour and they filmed Elvis the same day at the pool.
