Thread: Elvis Books, Need Help!

    Elvis Books, Need Help!

I'm working at this book store and I've recently talked my boss into doing a little display for Elvis Week next month. So far we ordered and have, Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley, Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley, Me and a Guy Named Elvis, and lastly The Elvis Encyclopedia. I need advice on other good books about Elvis Presley. Any ideas? I know she wants to get books in that we know the fans would like. Also she wants one of the books to be like a picture book or not quite a picture book but has a lot of pictures in it. The only ones I could think of was the first three that was listed then the Graceland pop up book. If any of you could help me it would be greatly appreciated Maybe we could have a cut-out of him? We have a cut-out of Edward Cullen standing up behind the counter for the Twilight Saga.

Why is this in the off topic section?

Jerry Hopkins books would be good

The one i recommend is not a picture book..
but it has pictures about Elvis, his family and June.
The book is called: "Elvis, in the twilight of memory".
Written by June Juanico. It's a really great and easy read.

"June Juanico has written a book that is filled with feeling and insight, that conveys an experience with truth and without rancor, about a real, not mythic Elvis Presley".(Peter Guralnick, from the introduction)

    Hope you like the idea!?

I know I might get some heck for this, but how about Is Elvis Alive? by Gail Brewer-Giorgio. An interesting read. If your display is small, then don't bother with it.

Sorry, but I'm a fan of the whole Is Elvis Alive phenomenon. Maybe most Elvis fans aren't, but I think it just adds to the legend and mystery of Elvis.

Unseen Elvis: Candids of the King by Jim Curtin is a great picture book.
YOU LOOKIN' FOR TROUBLE? YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

A great photo book is: Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis featuring Alfred Wertheimer's wonderful photos.

How about Elvis & Gladys? Or Revelations from the Memphis Mafia? Or Graceland pop-up book?

The book ELVIS FASHION by Julie Mundy would be very interesting.

Here's some pics from the book including: Elvis's stunning burgundy coat from ELVIS ON TOUR (boarding plane at airport); white suit from '68 Comeback Special;Gold belt for breaking attendance record at the Las Vegas International Hotel, and Presley's white-brown checked boots worn for the Hilton 1972 press conference for ALOHA from Hawaii plus additional footwear–all stunning!

A fantastic book, many are sure to enjoy.

    Cheers,

Thanks Jungleroom76, it’s no problem at all.

Here’s a few more pics from ELVIS: FASHION – one of the best Elvis books available! His clothes have a story all of there own: Elvis & the gorgeous Judy Tyler on the set of Jailhouse Rock; Paisley suit worn for his 1967 wedding to Priscilla; Outfit worn for famous President Nixon meeting; outfit worn meeting the legendary Ali; Jacket & shirt worn for MSG press conference (1972); a 1972 cape and the stunning elephant cord jacket worn for the helicopter arrival for – ALOHA FROM HAWAII.

This really is a fantastic book – essential for Elvis fans and great for a display!

    Cheers,

    My boy
