Thread: Question about Elvis for the female fans

Re: Question about Elvis for the female fans

Elvis had the looks, yes, even at the end he was still handsome, the weight does not erase the looks, and seriously, look at his gene pool, Vernon was very attractive and bit on the heavy side, age does that, [my daddy is not the 27 waist that he was when he married my mom, she keeps reminding him of that! ] and i've read that Vernon's father was quite the ladies'man.
what elvis had was charisma, charm, and a good upbringing of respect and courtesy. those things do not go away. his voice, i can't say enough about his voice - it lulls me to sleep every night, and wakes me up in the morning.
All I wanted was a white knight with a good heart, soft touch, fast horse

We've kept our husbands around all this time - why wouldn't we keep him, right? I don't know about Jim but Tim's looks haven't "improved" over the years...

Why would we quit loving Elvis simply because he got older and didn't look the same? The kind of love we have for him (and hubs) is unconditional!

If Elvis lost his voice and couldn't sing that well when he got older I wouldn't buy any of his new records but I would still like his older recordings.

I think everything would change. Gone would be the girls who were there for his looks and there would stand those who loved the silver in his hair and the crows' feet around his eyes. Gone would be those just there for Polk Salad Anne and there would stand those who truly understood the meaning of the song Let It Be Me. Gone would be the silly little girls who loved his bad boy act, and there would be the women that not only loved the boy but loved the man he was becoming. Gone would be those who were there because they were curious, and there would stand those who connected with his heart. Young Elvis would be gone. Everything superficial would be gone and there would be only one thing left.......our connection to his soul. Isn't that what loving someone really is?

Exactly Gail. Elvis is like a family member. Gee I hope no one quits loving me just because I am old and shriveled up one these days!

    That was fantastically put.
He would have looked gorgeous with grey hair and crows feet.

IMO, his voice got better as he matured.
'Let it be me'.................Ohhhhh!!!! Wonderful song!!!!

Also as we women know, unfortunately for us............Men mature 'into' themselves and get better with age

A heartfelt post, beautifully said, and I agree, the connection to the soul, is what loving is all about. It's unconditional.

Difficult for me to explain in english but this statement seems a bit unfair for women !! Ye, we have eyes to appreciate his good looks but also ears to love his beautiful voice and songs and also a heart to love his personnality and his soul. I love him also at the end of his life and it makes no difference for me !! His handsomeness is just a bonus !!

    I agree, Ale.

Btw, I saw Michael Douglas on a talk show a few weeks ago and he looked really good!

No matter how old or how he would have looked..I'm an Elvis fan, always!

Tom Jones is older, and he still sings great and still puts on a good show so just because someone gets older does not always mean the talent and voice diminish.
I think the talent and charisma of Elvis was always there-even at the end.
I am not a woman-but I think his looks do play a role-for some-but I suspect most feel that "Charisma"-that inexplainable something-which/combined with "True Talent" causes long term fans. I think that applies to males or females.
    Work in Progress!
