Nice.
But...Priscilla: "Elvis was happiest when riding horses" is something of a stretch, is it not?
Starting today, Elvis fans will get to see more of the King's Graceland estate following a decision by Priscilla Presley to open up the stables to visitors. "Everyone knows Elvis and his music, his films, his charities,...

Nice.
But...Priscilla: "Elvis was happiest when riding horses" is something of a stretch, is it not?
...you won't forget me when I go.
Not when she needs to justify charging $15.00 PER ADULT for the opportunity to see the stable area!!!
Just when I thought Priscilla couldn't hit a new low, she does!!! I'm sorry, but when you are already getting $33.00 per adult ticket for the "Graceland Platinum Tour", is it REALLY necessary to charge ANOTHER $15.00 for the stable portion of the tour? That makes it almost $50 for the tour!!!
So that means a family of four (with 2 adults and 2 youths between the ages of 13-18) would pay a grand total of $182.40 to take the platinum tour and view the stable area!!!
As thrilled as I am that another area of Graceland is being opened to the public for the fans to enjoy and get a glimpse into yet another side of the Elvis legacy, my excitement over this news is quickly squashed by the cost being passed on to the fans...AGAIN!!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Not taking account of the Global financial crisis are they?

They certainly aren't...they just keep sticking it to the fans at every possible turn!!!
And the sad part is...Elvis' fans are so loyal that most of them will pay the extra money for the stable portion of the tour because they want to see that part of Elvis' private life. It is another opportunity for the fans to experience another facet of Elvis' life and to see something new. Of course, EPE knows that, so they know that they can get away with charging $15.00 and most fans will pay it because of their loyalty to Elvis. I think THAT is the real shame of the whole situation.
Unfortunately, I don't really see an end to the ever-increasing and seemingly endless extortion that EPE continues to get away with!! The only way that EPE would get the message, in my opinion, would be an all-out boycott of everything EPE does...sadly though, that would probably only wind up hurting Elvis' loyal fans in some way, shape or form. So EPE...let the extortion continue!!!![]()

That's the only thing, if the fans boycotted Graceland then you don't know if they would close it down/sell it, so then ultimately we lose!!!
It will be my first time BW2010, so I will see the stables and everything else going, but I wouldn't pay for this extra if/when I go again

Priscilla decided to open it???? Who is she to decide anything? I think I've missed something along the Sillerman deal...

Even though Sillerman has a majority stake in the company, I think Priscilla has the ultimate say in what parts of Graceland are and aren't opened to the public...

I agree, it should be part of the Graceland tour, not something seperate. PLEASE GRACELAND, EPE, AND WHOEVER ELSE, STOP SUCKING US DRY. It will be hard enough just to get there, give us a break. Better yet, how about alittle something extra (like a free stable tour) for being loyal and coming there at all.
I wsuppose ultimately it would be Lisa, but she doesn't get involved, so Cilla arranges it......
Some of our 'British Heritage' estates over in Uk will not be cheap to get into.........they have to charge enough to keep the grounds, house and the Landowners in the style they've become accustomed to...............LOL

Yeah, yours is not a cheap country to visit at all debtdbruno yet you can have a 4 days pass and visit many places for the same price they charge to see Graceland and the new addition. I know Graceland is a private residence but I think $33.00 for the platimun tour and $15.00 to see the stable is excessive and a shameless rip-off to the fans.

Well I am sure that Lisa has something to say about what happens at Graceland, but as debtdbruno stated, Lisa really doesn't get involved in all of the day-to-day things with Graceland and EPE. So even though Priscilla is the main person in charge of these things, I am sure she doesn't make the final decision without some sort of input from Lisa.

PRECISELY!!!
The cost of traveling to and from Memphis, plus hotel accomodations and all of the other costs associated with a trip to Memphis are high enough!! Now throw in almost $50 just to have the complete Graceland experience...that is just too much!!!
I know EPE is a business, and I know they have to make money but still...but obviously they were a successful company before adding the stable portion of the tour. So how about making the stable tour an added bonus, as you pointed out Crittergitter, as a token of thanks to the fans for making the sacrifices necessary to make the trip to Graceland???
Sadly, I don't really think EPE cares much about the fans anymore...perhaps that is an overreaching statement, and I am sure some fans are going to disagree with me...but I think the business side of things, particularly the "HOW DO WE MAKE AS MUCH PROFIT" SIDE OF THE BUSINESS, is much more important to EPE then the fans...and THAT is a shame!!!

The biggest thing about the money angle is that it's not a family owned business,so ultimately they don't care about the feelings of the fans!!!
When LM sold 85%.............that was it!!!
