I believe he had the lyrics (or at least some of them) to POLK SALAD ANNIE written on it.

I noticed when watching video of the footage that Elvis takes what appears to be a little slip of paper from Charlie Hodge during "Sweet Caroline" and puts it in his belt, only to take it out and read it during "Polk Salad Annie." What was written on it and why did he have it?

My Radio shows every Thursday and Sunday at 7pm UK time
He holds it up to her to show her he has it before tucking it into his belt. It then comes out during 'polk'. Must be something good in it, takes a good while reading it...........LMAO

Okay, I didn't think it was lyrics as he didn't need them for any other show for Polk Salad Annie.
He did somtimes forget where he was with the 'talking' part of 'polk.............LOL

it was a reminder that the International wanted him of stage 45 min after the start of the show.

I always assumed it was a room # as well. If I'm not mistaken, he had taken a little trip around the audience during Love Me Tender.
