Re: Missy - Did you ever meet Elvis?

The answer would be no. I had two chances but the timing was wrong. I thought nothing of it, just thought there would be more time to. So I speak through all I have heard, through my family members (many)because they grew up with him in Tupelo, and Memphis. My husband's family moved to Chicago when he was a kid but went down to visit family fairly often.
Now what Totally calls family "gossip" we just call family stories. Sometime they include Elvis and sometimes they don't.
Gosh Rosanne, since we've shared so many e-mails and P.M.'s, I'm surprised you don't remember me telling you this. No biggy though.
I have shared several stories on here and through P.M.'s because people ask. People are very curious about everything Elvis.

You are most welcome. My favorite one is actually about Gladys. My father-in-law was away in the Army. My mother-in-law was preg. with my husband. Never saw the Doctor once. Decided she was tired of being pregnant and took a large dose of castor oil, went into labor. Hubs was a big baby.
She was in the house screaming, the kids were playing outside and got scared. They ran to where the Presley's were living and Gladys came and called the ambulance. Just in time for my husband to be born at John Gaston Hosp. in Memphis.
I have hubs birth certificate and have looked up where his family lived and where the Presley's lived. And then I googled the map of the neighborhood. It's neat to look at the route from place to place.

Great story Missy. Gladys had a good head on her shoulders and acted quickly.

I thought "no" was the answer, but I couldn't swear to it! I even looked back through emails to see if I had kept one....I did find the one though where you explained to me the family connection.

I think if you read the first 5 words you will find "no" in there!

Re: Missy - Did you ever meet Elvis?

I love your stories too Missy . You know a lot about The Presley's, and the Smith's. Normal you ARE family. Lots of fans were lucky enough to see Elvis perform or even get an autograph. Lots of fans saw Pris, Lisa , Linda etc in real life but that doesn't mean they also know the inside information and stories you have.

They are a real treasure and i hope you will continue to share some with us.

You never met him, that is a shame. Especially because you really had the opportunity to meet him in his private life.
Don't you regret you postphoned it?

Did Elvis ever called you or spoke to you personally on the phone???
It's hard NOT to imagine Elvis as perfect; how else could someone be THAT good looking, THAT talented, THAT generous & THAT charismatic

It's too bad you never got to meet Elvis...considering you had the opportunity...

Would love to know if you ever spoke to Elvis on the phone!

Re: Missy - Did you ever meet Elvis?

No never talked to him either. Hubs family was kind of extended family.
My sister-in-law doesn't like Elvis at all. Well, I asked her what her beef was with him. She said he used to tease her when they were little. She said one time when she was riding her bike Elvis hid behind the bushes and threw some rocks at her. (not big ones) She had just learned how to ride her bike. It startled her and she fell off her bike. She tried to chase him but she was young and she said he could run like the dickens. I asked her if he got in trouble for it. She said no not really. He made some excuse about he didn't mean to make her fall off her bike he just meant to throw rocks at her.
Now we all know that Elvis liked to pull tricks on people but my sister-in-law just never appreciated the tricks. He meant no harm really I don't think. Apparently she never forgot because when they were down there visiting,(years later) and the family was invited to the Fair, she was the stupid one who asked for his autograph (my SIL is bold and brassy) and he got ticked off.
