    Why We Love Elvis

I was just going through the threads here and the thought just struck me -- Elvis had been dead for 32 years and here we are still talking about him! And asked myself why do I love to read things about him? What is it about the man?

I was born in 1970 and was just about 7 when he died, but I've always adored him ever since I can remember. His looks was probably the first to impress me (I was just 7 when I first saw him on TV), then the voice. When I began reading about his life and started listening to his songs -- it just drew me nearer and nearer to him. I always felt a special connection to his music. Maybe that's why I love the guy -- it's the music and the extraordinary looks that came with it. It was just an amazing package for an entertainer. No one ever came close.

How about you? why do love Elvis?

I love Elvis because he touched my heart in so many ways with his voice, his looks, his movies and his generosity. I don't think that I have ever seen another artist and performer like him. One song, one melody and my heart beats so fast. He was and still is the most influencial performer in the world.

I've never been the kind of person to admire a famous personnality but he is the exception. I love his voice, his songs, his looks, his personnality, everything about him. He touches my heart. No one will ever come close for me !

Well, his looks have never been that important. He could have been uncomfortable, pale and bloated but I would have loved to hear his singing nonetheless. This sex-appeal (eros) is an issue of the "package" we call Elvis, but it's just an aspect and not the main thing. I don't think you'd have to be physically attracted to him to be able to enjoy the music; one is able to feel that drive, the passion or whatever emotion he conveyed.

When I became a fan of Elvis I was going through a lot at the time. He became a way for me to escape everything and for a few moments laugh, cry, and enjoy life. He was an amazing talent, and human. He had a wonderful voice, great personality and amazing, wonderful and sexy looks. He was the whole package.

I see us as two old soul mates. Not the I love you forever and we'll never be apart soulmates, but two old souls who have shared journeys before and agreed to meet again.

I see us both at a train station and it is time for him to go. "I have to go now. I have things in this life I must do." He puts his arm around me and gives me a big hug, "and so do you." "But suppose I can't find you. Suppose you go somewhere and we never meet again," I'm beginning to feel afraid. He hugs me again. He picks up his luggage and nods to the conducter that he's coming. "We will find each other. I will be there when you need me the most." He walks toward his train and prepares to board. He turns one more time. "I will find you with my voice. You will hear me and remember it's sweet sound from days long ago and days yet to come. You will see me and feel like you have finally made it home. You will fight for me, you will cry for me, and you will spend your last dime on me. And at the end of your life, as you draw your last breath, you will see me again. I will always be here for you as you are always here for me. We are souls linked together and it can't be any other way." He gives me a smile....and a wave and steps on the train as it begins to move.

    That's why I love Elvis.

    Re: Why We Love Elvis

I found ELVIS at age nine in 1956....fifty three years ago. There just was some kind of magnetism...deep feelings for his beauty and his humanity....I had the feelings instantaneously for ELVIS ....and the emotions I felt at age nine for Elvis have never left me...I have found it to be an unexplainable magic.

I will never forget you Rosanne.

I totally understand that Carole. I fell in love with the voice at the age of four, with the man at the age of 9. 41 years later and nothing has changed.....and never will change.

The first thing what captured me it was his voice. But as I knew more about him, his look, his beautiful face, his body, his moving, his charisma, his whole physical appearance, his generousity also had a deep effect on me. Finally I totally fell in love with him, and I feel that I love him more and more each day, and I can't do anything against it. I'm sure nobody will have the same effect on me!! He was very special and unique.

    Re: Why We Love Elvis

I have loved Elvis ever since I was a little girl. He is a part of who I am and will be for the rest of my life. There is no way to describe it. He has become a part of my family. I know why I love him but it is beyond words.

    Simple, I do.

There is something deep inside me, a knowing, a thread, a link, that cannot be broken. It's there forever.

I opened my young eyes and saw him for the first time, complete recognition. I think also, perhaps,
some understanding that comes when one is reflected.

If meeting him, I know what would have happened.. A oneness, complete ease within the hearts
a giving of same, that wouldn't be like it was then, but so much more, as he would know or realise, the giving was
only for him, it has deepened, who could think it possible - it comes with all the knowing and love - waiting for the right time, for when it comes, it will be incredible, we know, as it was then, on another plain, wrapped and safe in trust, flying..

Jane Seymour in "Somewhere in Time" said:

"The man of my dreams has almost faded, now."

    "What man is that, miss?"

"The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of in the most deepest and secret regions of her heart.

I can almost see him now, before me. What would I say to you, if you were really here? Forgive me. I've never known this feeling I've lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder then, that I failed to recognise you, you were brought to me for the first time, is there any way
that I can tell you how my life has changed? Any way at all to let you know at what sweetness you have given me? There is so much to say.
I cannot find the words, except for these: I love you".
