    our husbands and boyfriends

No doubt there are a few women here who have had husbands or boyfriends who just cannot understand the attraction to EP. The fact that he has been gone for nearly 32 years only adds to the mystery.

How do you explain it all?

    Re: our husbands and boyfriends

I have been very very blessed through the years. Every boyfriend (or later husband) knew ELVIS went with the package. They were self confident in their own selves, and my feelings for them, not to feel threatened by the special place ELVIS held in my heart since I was a little girl....and every boyfriend I ever had (or later husband) escorted me to see ElVIS live in Vegas, or on tour, and although never the fan I was ....they were fans too.

EDIT: Thinking about it.....I actually had one boyfriend that was even a bigger fan than me....though that didn't seem possibly to me....if I was honest with myself... he was. He went to MANY more concerts and shows...and had one the most fabulous ELVIS collections EVER.

Ever since I was a little girl.. Ah, to heck with it. No, no problems here. But I seem to be more of a 70's fan, since many seem to remember Elvis as he was when they got to know him (around 1960 or so, in this case).
all the goons I left behind,
    memories still linger..

I was an Elvis fan before I met my husband. He is not a fan but I don't think that he doesn't like him. In fact, he is the first to buy me things about Elvis. Anyway, I'd rather he didn't ask me to choose...

Think that`s bad honey??....Try explaining your obsession with a male icon,as a man,to your girlfriend/wife!!!!..... A woman throwing longing looks at her Elvis posters seems easy enough to explain.... but a man....!!!!! Man,that`s gonna get her worried somethin` terrible!

    Liz,
It's that "it" factor that we've all discussed before. Nobody can explain it or understand it!

I guess I never tried to explain it. It is what it is. I don't think he has ever questioned me about it either. Come to think of it, no one in my family has. My parents listened to Elvis. That's where I developed my love for his voice. My intrigue about the man came much later.

Elvis, as we all know, is a phenomenon. He is a product of our culture and one of the few modern American icons who can be embraced unilaterally. Elvis is America. He is the rags-to-riches, small-town-boy-makes-good, Cinderella story come to life.

My boyfriend says he has no problem with me being an Elvis fan, but he won't go to Memphis with me.

Agreed with Sleepy Jack. LOL. My girfriends now and of past did not understand why Elvis is the best and why I am such a huge Elvis fan. All the records, CD's, and plates. I have been asked by them why do you love Elvis so much? I say I love the music. There is nothing better. IMO.

BTW-D@mn seems like I havent posted in ages. Hello all. Been busy here. Havent forgot about this place.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley
