Don't you think this thread could really enlighten some folks who have a pretty skewed idea about Elvis's final year?
If someone were to read a book like Down At The End Of Lonely Street, he or she would think that Elvis weighed around 350 lb at the time of his death. I believe it was claimed that much of that weight had been gained since the last tour, which was a convenient way of explaining why he didn't look that heavy in any of his 1977 concerts. But that is simply ridiculous! We are to believe that during six or seven weeks Elvis gained a hundred pounds or more? :twisted:
At any rate, at least from the standpoint of his appearance--and perhaps his spirit, I believe the photos posted here do a great job of illustrating that things were not all bad in '77.
