without a song, a man ain't got a friend,
without a song, the road would never bend,
without a song, so I'll keep singing the song.

Elvis sang “Happy Birthday” to James Burton during the Midnight Show on August 21st, 1969 – This was first issued on the bootleg album “The Legend Lives On”.
The following song was “In The Ghetto” and James came in late after Elvis had introduced the song, causing Elvis to laugh and say ”I’ll be dammed if I’ll sing Happy Birthday to him again!”
This track is available on the BMG " Collectors Gold" 3 CD set -IMO one of the best sets to come out officially.

There are a couple of import CD's where Elvis sings HAPPY BIRTHDAY that I can think of right off the top of myhead...
One is from his show in Lake Tahoe on May 3, 1976 -- the CD is entitled A CRAZY SHOW AT LAKE TAHOE.
The other is from the same Tahoe engagement, this time the closing show on May 9 entitled AND THEN THE LIGHTS WENT DOWN. This is an audience recording in fairly decent quality, but notable in that it's an EXTRA LONG closing show (over 2 hours long) and contains such concert rarities as YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL, THE FIRST TIME EVER I SAW YOUR FACE, RETURN TO SENDER, ONE NIGHT (rare for '76), BURNING LOVE (also rare for '76), BLUE CHRISTMAS and HEARTBREAK HOTEL (very rare for '76).
I am pretty sure there are other shows, especially in the later years where he sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY...off hand, though, these are the 2 that come immediately to mind!
Hope this helps Susan!
