Basically a friend has asked me to put together a CD of about 25-30 songs from any of Elvis songs. Because theres so many good songs to choose from I'm not sure how to narrow it down. What would be your selections? It can be any versions of the song live,studio,rehearsels etc

I'd go for the songs that were not big hits.

Oh yes....you are right about Bridge and Trilogy......well, it`s quite a hard job to pick just 30 songs

Depends on what style your friend likes but I would make the following CD up for my friends. This splits each three decades up with ten songs each (50s/60s/70s) and shows the rocking/blues/r&B side of Elvis that I love:

Anyone else think animal instinct is just a great track. Rediscovered it recently and love it. That beat, bass and flute are soooooooooo cool.

Tough job indeed, i think the guys have done a good job ... i would go for a retrospective feel, start from the Sun label, and hit a song or two from all aspects of his career.
Before + after the army, movie songs, 68/69, vegas, then his final tracks, way down, and maybe ALLC to finish ... phew! all this in 30 songs ... wow !
