On his second day in the Courts, Elvis met Paul Dougher who lived in the same building. Paul and Elvis formed an immediate friendship that lasted until Elvis’ death. In the book, Paul shares stories that reveal a unique portrait of Elvis during his teenage years. He includes details of many boyhood experiences that formed the basis of their lifelong friendship.
The book also touches on the isolation Elvis felt once he reached a level of success that would be unmatched by any other entertainer. It offers insight into the despair and loneliness surrounding Elvis toward the end of his life.

I've seem this book on eBay too and was interested but had never heard comments from anyone on it so I didn't bid. I would love to hear from other members who have read it.

I have read it - it's a quick read.....a different perspective coming from someone who grew up with him and then kind of watched things unfurl...occasionally dropping back in to visit....one glaring error as he talks about Joe Esposito being there before the Army.....some storied heard before - others are new.....his summing up of Elvis' life...and how things developed is fascinating I think......and I would recommend a box of tissues to go with this book.....
