I don't think so
I heard George Straight broke it in the early 90's
I'M JUST CURIOUS TO KNOW IF ELVIS STILL HOLDS THE ATTENDANCE RECORD FOR LAS VEGAS? I WOULD THINK HE DOES AS HE WAS THE BIGGEST ACT TO EVER HIT VEGAS. EVERY SHOW HE DID WAS A SELLOUT AND HE WAS THE BIGGEST ACT IN THE WORLD.

EVEN IF THE RECORD HAS BEEN BROKEN ELVIS WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THE BIGGEST ACT TO EVER HIT VEGAS. HE REALLY LEFT HIS MARK ON THAT TOWN.
It's probably been broken because there are bigger venues now. It wasn't just the attendance records that Elvis shattered, it's the fact that people would stay for one-two weeks at a time, going to every show, which was unheard of. Also, when the town was dead, and he appeared during their slow season, he rejuvenated it, with his name and presense!
Did Elvis hold it from the last time he played there till '91? If so thats still pretty good going.
elvis was the greatest act to hit vegas..no doubt about that......but its no big deal as Vegas attendance records . are achieved then eventually broken...depends on size of showrooms how many shows they do...money they will ve paid etc...
our very own celine dion holds all attendance vegas records today.. most shows most money made attendance etc .. in vegas she has them all .. i will be seeing her in concert this feb 14th
it was different in the days when elvis ruled vegas. showrooms were smaller ..elvis engagemants in vegas were short week or so....celine stayed in vegas for years complete years giving concerts night after night ...huge record breaking contract she signed in vegas...forget george whatever celine rules .

Hilton Pavilion Features
43,130 square feet
Seats up to 5,164 depending on seating arrangement
The International Showroom held a capacity of about 2000 a show-so there is quite a few more seats available in Todays Vegas in comparison to the late 60s into the 80s.
5164 Hilton Pavillion
2000 International Showroom
3164 more seats available per show. Quite a difference.
In 69 the International was the largest showroom in Vegas if I recall-and they turned them away every show because capacity was reached.

not true they had to cancel the contract and cut the contract and the eng. down cause the could not sing every night and going on tour ...so they had brought in another act to fill the time
yes the record is broken on one hand but the venues have changed...but still there is no show which such an inpacked on the city with a 10 % higher rates on everything like elvis was there...
The first summer that we were there(1971) we arrived midway through the 4 week engagement. We got a cab at the airport and on the way to the LVH the cabbie asked if we had ever been to Vegas before, we said no. He said......"well, this is really not at all what it's like the rest of the year. This town comes alive and goes crazy when Elvis is in town. We all make more money when he is here due to the huge increase in the number of people."
When we were there for the 1973 August engagement we actually got into Vegas on the 5th, he was opening on the 6th. The difference in the LVH between the 5th and the 6th was HUGE!!!! We went down for breakfast on the 6th and it was as though the whole Hotel had been transformed, and not just with the decorations. There was just plain 'ole excitement in the air!![]()
It must have been so exciting to be in Vegas during the Elvis shows! Knowing all the people there were Elvis fans and that Elvis himself was there too! Rosanne did you ever wonder if he was watching from his suite? I think I would stand hoping he would see me and wave!
I know a lot of people who have gone to Vegas but I have no interest. I would find it too sad knowing Elvis will never be there again. Did you say you have never been back Rosanne?

I think another point in all this attendance talk is that besides the venues in Vegas being much much larger the town is now more family friendly-gambling is still the point but the last 15 years have seen a much more "family inclusive" experience. This adds to total draw of the town as a whole.
