Do you think Elvis could have been saved?

If he was found right away? And I wonder, if he was, would have have changed his life around??
I know this is a but "what if" question, but do you ever just wonder?

If he was found right away, probably. Unless he made drastic changes it would have most likely happened again. I guess you can't always believe what you read but from what I understand, he overdosed several times before the fatal one. He cleaned up for a while then went back to the drugs. It's too bad things back then weren't the way they are now. He could have gotten help so easily and the public would have supported him. JMO

Curious...do you think he was found right away and left there to die or did I misunderstand your post?

Re: Do you think Elvis could have been saved?

There's so many unanswered questions about that tragic day....

I think I read somewhere that Dr. Nick has stated that even if someone had been right there in the room with him that even that wouldn't have saved him....

As to whether Elvis would've cleaned up his lifestyle...that's really a big 'what if' question......

Yes he could have been saved, if he had admitted he needed help.

I'd say probably not, unless someone happened to be there when the attack came on (which was unlikely since he was trying to do his business at the time).

And considering he'd overdosed on at least two occasions previously, the manner in which he died was only a matter of time.

I tend to agree with this. I think the only way he could have been "saved" is if he had cleaned up his act before August 16, 1977. If he had cleaned up his act, then maybe 08/16/1977 would have been just another day.

As it was...I don't think there was much anyone could have done on that day.

Even if you remove the drug use from the picture and just looked at the issue of the heart attack, which is something that the doctors also feel happened, I would say probably not. Given his other legitimate health problems, diet and sedentary lifestyle (sleeping for days at a time), he chances of surviving a heart attack would be extremely slim.

I wouldn't call his lifestyle, even in 1977, sedentary.

    sed·en·tar·y (sdn-tr)
    adj.
    1. Characterized by or requiring much sitting: a sedentary job.
    2. Accustomed to sitting or to taking little exercise.
    3. Remaining or living in one area, as certain birds; not migratory.
    4. Attached to a surface and not moving freely, as a barnacle.

He was still out and about, going on tour, driving around, playing racquetball or whatever. And the sleeping diet phase had passed a while back. If anything, it was the drugs and the junk food that played the main part in his demise.

Sadly, I don't think he could have been saved...after all the years he was taking pills and the amount he took, according to wikipedia he had 15 different types of pills in his system when he died...

Elvis would have had to start way before 1997 to get himself cleaned up...

I have to agree with the above quote but would like to add stress as another factor in his death...due to lifestyle etc.

I also think his heart attack was too severe for him to have survived it.

The only thing that contributed to his early demise was a house full of yes men and
a Doctor that had a cash cow that he was gonna milk for everything he could, a manager that we have found out didn't see anything but dollar sign's.
No one in Elvis' life had the ball's too say no because the gravy train would end if they
did. Love for the man had nothing too do with it. They wanted too live the lifestyle but
didn't have the talent to do it on there own, hence, bleed the life out of the man that did.

    Please.

He had every whim catered for.

Heart attacks and early deaths are not caused by people agreeing with you.

    Drugs. Junk food. Poor lifestyle.

    End of story.

Re: Do you think Elvis could have been saved?

I think he died within minutes of the massive violent attack. I do not think he could have been saved if the paramedics had been in the room when it happened. My grandfathers first heart attack was mild-he knew he was having one and told my aunt to call an ambulance-mild tightness in his chest and tingling in his left arm he told me later. He was in the hospital for about 2weeks in 1968.
The one that killed him was like I have read Elvis's described-my cousin was in the room with him when it happened. Grandpa was sitting at the kitchen table watching TV and smoking a cigarette-my cousin said he suddenly yelled and made a horrible face and fell face first out of his chair and moaned once after hitting the floor. My cousin listened to his chest-no beat, no breathing.
My grandma called an ambulance. The ambulance got there in about 10 minutes they worked on him all the way to the hospital, and for 15 minutes in the hospital-but he was probably dead a minute after he hit the floor the doctor said.

I don't know. I believe that there is a time period for everyone in which they die. And it may have just been Elvis' time no matter what. One could hope that he could have been, but the fact is that he wasn't and he's gone. I don't mean to sound harsh. Being born after his passing I personally think it would have been awesome to have lived in his lifetime and been able to have the chance to see him live. I can't say really one way or another. However my guess is probably not with everything else he was going through and his body shutting down at that time slowly anyhow.
