It is unreal for what you have to pay for concerts today. When we went to see Elvis in '72 the tickets were $15 and the next year in Tahoe they were $20 or $25 not sure anymore but they were cheap.
Thanks for sharing this Rosanne.

These are great...I can only imagine the excitement these must have created....they are almost surreal to someone who never got a chance to see Elvis live.......I think the excitement would have probably caused me to burst! Thanks for letting me see them!![]()
THOSE ARE FANTASTIC PIECES OF HISTORY ROSANNE!!!

We will miss you dearest friend
Back in the 70's you never knew when a person was coming to town until one morning you would open up the newspaper and see these ads! Yes, my heart would beat alot faster than normal, that's for sure!
I'm glad you guys like this sort of stuff...I'll drag out some more!![]()
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
AS far as the prices are concerned, a friend of mine was able to see Elvis when he came to the Houston Livestock Show. She said Elvis concerts were always reasonable. He took care of his fans. And I quote her: Elvis would charge $10 where Tom Jones would charge $25 when he appeared in Corpus.
Since I was never lucky enough to see any Elvis or Tom Jones concerts, I can only take her word for this.
Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go
The first time we saw Elvis at the rodeo - our tickets were $1.50 each!
Forever Best Friends

Oh jeez, Rosanne, lol, that would have been soooooo exciting!![]()
Imagine, opening up the paper, and then saying "Guess what, (or may I, lol) we are seeing Elvis".
I love it when my heart just flies like that, lol.
Love it! Love surprises, lolWhat a fantastic time you had in your childhood, precious memories...
we paid 15 to see him at the international aug 70
The 1st time we saw Elvis was in Vegas in August of '71. One morning in September of '71 I came downstairs for breakfast and my Mother said "Guess what?"...."Your man is coming to town in November."
It just so happened that my dad knew the manager of Memorial Auditorium which is where he would be. So we ended up with great seats!![]()
You had the best childhood, Rosanne.
You also had the best childhood, because Elvis was in it, and that you could visit him.
I still remember when I was little, being so upset, knowing, I would never meet him at that time, and that I couldn't ever ask it of my parents..
Did you take pics of the show Rosanne? If so, perhaps you would be willing to share them with us (if you haven't already and I just missed it)??![]()
Would love to see ANY pics from the shows that you attended. I know I've seen a few of them here and there around the forum, but perhaps since this thread has turned into a historical thread, you could post/re-post some of them here for people (like me) that may not have seen them??
Just a thought from little ol' me...
