You need to get with today. That's what's wrong with America is the old views of yesteryear. This is why change is needed in this country. Apparently you don't know too much about Elvis Presley-the man because he was for change and equality for everyone. Obama's the first Africa-American and biracial president and that would have overwhelmed Elvis and probably brought him to joyous tears as it has everyone else who witnessed history on Tuesday after seeing what happened to Kennedy and Dr King because of trying to change old ways and views. Elvis sung about the ghettos and struggles of America more than once, and talked in his music about political issues like war and violence on numerous accounts. He sung about both the old South with Dixie land and a new world of hope with Glory Hallelujah in the same song and to the entire world at once. That's crossing political lines any way you look at it.

Elvis also made a point to say "I'm just an entertainer and I'd just as soon keep my political opinions to myself." Those are not the words of a man that wants to jump into the middle of any political controversy.

"Old views of yesteryear" made this country the greatest nation on earth. Those old views are what founded this nation. Changing the Constitution and manipulating it to fit one`s agenda is not what this country is about. Obama was the first president to be elected by the media. The first black president. That`s great. But, does it show the world how far we`ve come? Or does it show the world how engulfed with celebrity worship we are? The press gave this man a free pass on every issue that needed to be addressed.
The songs that Elvis sang, the one you mentioned, are not political songs. IMO.

BTW, Elvis sings beautifully in this video.

JFK's assasination had nothing to do with racism. Yes, he worked to improve things, but that's not the reason he was gunned down.
