Thread: Obama at Graceland?

  1. #21
Politics is always a thorny and complicated issue, especially because I don't like to hurt anyone's sensibilities, I must talk about these things with respect, because I am not american, and I can not live it like own, but I never liked Bush - I reserve my opinion about him-
say that Obama has many supporters in my country and he caused a very good impression.
Obama will enter into Graceland, as Bush did, and when I return to US, Ill see his portrait at the entrance to the Trophy Building, jejejeje.
I also think that push a country in times of international crisis is more important than a visit to Graceland, of course, from my country I wish you all the luck in this new Obama' era
Lord have mercy...I'm a devil in desguise!

Smart move on your part Missy. Here we go again.....Sillerman, Obama, Bush, etc.....
I wonder how long before this one spirals down.

I really don't care what Obama thinks of Elvis and/or Graceland. He needs to focus on some real "TCB" and get the country going again.

yup he seems like a great leader and i think he can change things round in america bush ran the country to the ground so things must get better i think here in britan we need someone like obama to get the country focused and working towards a better future i think trips and visits are not on the to do list for a while unless like bush his job takes him there

In all fairness...the USA was headed down when Bush inherited the office.

    Most thinking people are.

Here in Australia, there is a hair removal company called Veet: their product is for women to, er, keep themselves clean, if you follow me.

There was a newspaper ad on inauguration day for Veet that said "Goodbye Bush". Funny on so many levels.

As for Obama, the last place I want to see him is Graceland, at least for now. He has the economy to deal with first and foremost, not to mention the quagmires that are Iraq and Afghanistan.

No. So how do you come up with Obama never wanting to visit? Maybe his daughters want to see it since it is popular to little kids now. I have heard that his half sister is a huge Elvis fan. She was at the inauguration yesterday. Maybe she saw him perform in Hawaii since they both grew up there when Elvis did the special. Graceland's just as popular if not more popular than the White House. Graceland's the #1 most visited residential home in the world!
I'm basing my answer on the fact that Bush could have visited long before he did-never showed the inclination.
But also because Obama is coming into office with the worst economic situation since the depression, a war on 2 fronts, and a host of promises which he somehow must figure a way to keep in light of the economic mess he is in. I think Graceland has never crossed his mind-and I applaud him for it.
WE in this country have huge problems-and I do not want to think that he is spending anytime planning the first vacation of his presidency-I give him more credit than that. He has a full 4 years of hard work ahead-and Graceland has not crossed his mind. If it has-this country is in trouble!

There was something on another forum about Obama possibly closing Graceland to use it as a Camp David. But I doubt he could do that without Lisa and Robert FX Silerman's permission and I doubt they would allow him to. I don't think he has that much power to shut down a privately owned tourist attraction permanently that is a financial profit for an inner city for personal use. Besides I doubt he would even consider doing that. He seems to have way too much class and character to try something like that.

First he can't (and wouldn't) , its a privately owned residence . I know this is an Elvis forum and everyone here likes him the best etc etc but if he was going to just start taking Private homes from people, there are much bigger more modern and nicer houses (in nicer locations) then Graceland , including several of his homes on the west coast if it had to be an Elvis home. Second, why would he need to have "a camp David" when he now has THE Camp David?

That forum must be rolling their own.
Where did they get that? Its almost tabloid news. It can have no basis in fact I'm sure.

What is the source for this story? There is an author listed-but no sources are given for any information. Its no wonder so many unfounded rumors can gain attention so quickly
I have heard nothing on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CNN, or any other reputable source about this. I think they have been covering every Obama angle for months.
If this had any truth at all-would'nt a hint have made it beyond this. When CNN comes on with "Breaking News"
Obama to close Graceland and spend his vacation there-then I'll give this story creedance.
Closing line of this article is this:
Also, without public confirmation from the Obama camp, Lisa Marie Presley, or Elvis Presley Enterprises, any talk of Graceland as a presidential retreat is, at this point, pure speculation.

    PURE SPECULATION says it all.
The author of the article-Tyson Champagne is the owner/webmaster of Planning Your Trip To Graceland. Before you plan your trip to Elvis' legendary home, check out http://www.planning-your-trip-to-graceland.com
Better plan your trip before Obama closes it!

So you`re basing your opinions for political figures on whether or not they like Elvis???

Koizumi told the president the only way he came to America was if the president took him to Graceland. So Bush obliged. It did brign a lot fo positive attention to Bush when he took that memphis trip. It's probably his most popular thing he did right during his 8 years in office. Obama visiting Gracleand would guarnatee more future visitors jsut ebcause he walked throught here and gain massive world wide exposure to Elvis. Sillerman's a big Obama supporter so maybe he'll work something out for the president to visit.

Bush wasn`t "manipulated" into going to Graceland. He was being a polite host to a visiting (and outgoing) dignitary. He could of declined and the Prime Minister could have gone by himself.

I could imagine Obama visiting Graceland one day.
