    O man, that's a good topic

I love our guy, but I really find it a shame that a person who had more top10 hits than any other artist or band on the world, had such a poor setlist. I mean, he could easily change it more often.

    This would be my dreamlist:

    1) See See Rider (gotta love that tune)
    2) I Got a Woman / Amen (love that interaction with the audience)
    3) Susan When She Tried (great upto country)
    4) Always On My Mind (amazing ballad)
    5) Any Day Now (contemporary ballad)

    golden oldies:
    6) a Big Hunk O'Love
    7) Jailhouse Rock
    8) Loving You
    9) (Marie Was The Name) Of His Latest Flame

    10) Moody Blue (modern)
    11) Never Been To Spain (fantastic cover)

    Gospel:
    12) How Great Thou Art
    13) Run On / Bosom Of Abraham
    14) You'll Never Walk Alone

    15) Down In The Alley / Let Yourself Go (medley)
    16) And I Love You So (love this ballad)
    17) I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water (imagine the orchestra getting wild on the end)
    18) Can't Help Falling In Love

Possibly it will be too long. But I think that with a changing setlist Elvis would have kept his focus on touring and would have been able to do a longer show

Hey, don't forget Elvisn needs to bare his soul.

Sits down at the keyboard & plays on his own either Rags to Riches &/or Where No One Stands Alone.

AND plugs in his guitar to play Reconsider Baby &/or Such A Night (properly&#33.

    Heaven !

    Cheers

On that subject, I am surprised that more people weren't dissatisfied with the length of the shows Elvis generally gave in the 70s, or that an issue was never made of that to the point where he felt he needed to make them longer. You had Bruce Springsteen giving his all for 3 hours--well, that's an exception to the rule, but still Elvis's were on the short side for sure.

I guess seeing Elvis for any length of time though was enough to satisfy. I wouldn't know.

That's one great thing about Elvis The Concert: it's a long show!
...you won't forget me when I go.

YOU CAN SEE MY SETLIST AND COVER ART HERE:
    SETLIST
What most people forget is the pace of the show, some put to many rockin' songs into the show and others to many ballads, you have to keep in mind that Elvis has to do the show! if he had to do to many uptempo songs in the beginning of the show he would have been out breath in 20 minutes. And to many ballads at the start, people fall a sleep in the stadium
So the way i made this setlist is to keep the pace in it and to keep everyone happy..i hope i succeded in that...

    WHAT A FANTASTIC QUESTION PETER!!!

To be perfectly honest, I don't think I could come up with a set list for one of Elvis' shows simply because it would depend on my mood at the time I chose the songs, much like how Elvis did things when he was on stage.

A perfect example of this comes from the new FTD release THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, where seemingly out of nowhere, he launches into SNOWBIRD. Same with ONLY BELIEVE, also from that CD. I agree with Albert's post that, considering how many songs Elvis recorded during his career, that he never really strayed from the usual set list too often. He recorded so many GREAT songs in the 50's and 60's, yet so many of them never even got a passing glance in terms of making it into his stage shows. Wouldn't it have been cool for Elvis to perform songs like U.S. MALE, GUITAR MAN, TOO MUCH, I WANT YOU I NEED YOU I LOVE YOU or MY WISH CAME TRUE once in a while?

But, one thing I wish Elvis would have done on stage in the 70's is perform more of the songs from his then-current albums more often. Yes, he did usually perform his latest singles like T-R-O-U-B-L-E, PROMISED LAND, IT'S MIDNIGHT, MY BOY, HURT, etc. But what about some of the other songs from the albums, like I CAN HELP, SUSAN WHEN SHE TRIED, YOUR LOVE'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMIN', BLUE EYES CRYIN' IN THE RAIN, YOU ASKED ME TO, etc.? Perhaps the inclusion of some of these songs, along with the hit singles would have encouraged more people to go out and buy the albums, thus helping to increase sales and giving Elvis some higher-charting singles/albums in the 70's. Personally, I am curious as to why Elvis didn't try and perform more of the songs from his albums in the 70's....maybe he wasn't sure the fans would enjoy the newer material? Although if I had to venture a guess on this, I would say that maybe it's because Elvis chose not to hold as many rehearsals in the mid to late 70's, so the band (and Elvis himself) wasn't familiar enough with the newer songs to try them out on stage. Just a theory...

Anyway, Peter....GREAT QUESTION!! But as I said, comprising my dream set list would depend on my mood!! So I will just sit back and enjoy reading everyone else's ideas (for now, anyway&#33
