    I've lost you

I love the live version of this song from Vegas august 1970 i also like the studio version but i think it Elvis makes it sound even better live. Elvis gets totally involved in the song I think he found a personal message in this song.

    What do you all think?

I agree, I think the song had a special meaning to Elvis, because when he had sang the song live he put some energy into it and made it better

For years the only way I heard it was from the That's the Way It Is album
Then the 70's box set came out with the actual single and I was shocked that It was done differently
It was cool u had a mellow version and a soulful version lol

That's correct. The live versions that have been released always omit one verse. Why? You're guess is as good as mine.

For the record, I think this song was better in concert than on record. IMO, most every studio record that Elvis did in concert was done better live, IMO.

If I had to take a guess at why he left out the last verse of this song I would say that it was because the song did have lots of words to remember and maybe he felt safer remembering just the chorus and verses he actually did sing on stage. It is a beautiful song and sounds much better performed lived, but it does have lots of words to remember.

That is very true. he was always nervous about forgetting the words in his songs when on stage. He was so worried about fooling up the words in "I Just can't Help Believen" in TTWII.

I dare say that the reason for Elvis wanting the words for "I Just Can't Help Believin'" would be because of it being a brand new song in the set list.

He also says that he didn't particularly like this song so that may be why he had that block of remembering the words.....remember he did the same with "Burning Love" also.

This is the studio version with the wordiness of the lyrics:

And this is the live version from TTWII:

i just figger it was a timing thing, it was shortened because of the song length. Most of his live songs were under 3 minutes i think

    Thumbs up

I honestly dig the original studio version along with the other different takes. It , to me just sounds alot better than the live version but I'm sure if you did hear it (live while being at a show he sang it in) it would sound better than the recorded live version.
