Do you think Elvis wished he could turn back the clock? I've always wondered if he wished in some ways he never got that famous. Don't know if he ever said anything close to that?

I think that his first regret may have been his fame leading to the early death of Gladys. I have read some reports that he was very angry when she died, realizing that his fame, although brought them many wonderful things money-wise, his popularity also took him away from home more than Gladys was comfortable with and she was quoted by more than one person that she wished he would just give it all up, get married and settle down. Of course, we know this would never be the case and she died after he was drafted.
We also know that his career also was partially the cause of his marriage and break-up of his family. Reports also indicate that he may have been willing to change the direction of his career in order to get his family back, but we know that never happened either.
"More people today should see him not simply as a performer, but as an artist with a great soul."

I'm sure Elvis did feel he wished he could turn back the clock at times. Especially with the death of his mother and then again when things seemed to feel so out of hand with his life. I don't know anyone who doesn't feel that way off and on during their lifetime.
