If you don't want to waste any more time reading more of the same, then stop with Peter Guralnick's books because he's the comprehensive of all of the 100's of books written about Elvis. However, I have found with each and every single book that I've read, I have found that, although the stories may be the same, I always come away with a somewhat different 'vision' from a different point of view of whoever may be telling the story.
But the key to really understanding Peter Guralnick's books is to read and re-read the Author's Note in each volume. Each time I re-read it, I always come away with a better understand of what he is trying to create in his book. The first few times I read his books, I really didn't give the Author's Note much attention, but in order to really understand his work, you must get a really good understanding of the Author's Note.

I didn't think he had any
My point being that the 2 Guralnick books are as close to the complete truth as you will find.
