Let the stars fade and fall, and I won't care at all, as long as I have you.

I thought it was a Hilarious , wildly over acted great Comedy myself. Not many around here will like it though. Was it Accurate? Ehhh it hit the broad strokes.

I think the original meeting is funny enough (think of the two completely different characters) that doesn't need a comedy sequel. It couldn't be as funny as the original.

The movie was meant to be part fact and part comedy effort - and I believe that it accomplished it's purpose. I actually wouldn't mind to see it again.
It just mystifies me that, in this age of technology with DVDs and such that it only got released on VHS and not DVD.
Here's a website I ran across a long time ago with the full set of pictures taken during the December 21, 1970 meeting and the letter that Elvis wrote to Nixon on the way to Washington, D.C.
The Nixon/Presley Meeting: December 21, 1970

This is a movie I've been thinking of buying but now I'm not so sure...I'm glad it was mentioned in these posts that it was meant to be a comedy because it sure comes off as one.Neither actor comes even close to the original.
Thanks for posting Jen, it's interesting to say the least.

One of my faves - have it on DVD and have watched it many times - always makes me laugh...great spoof...both characters are great - love the "serious" commentary from such as Tony Curtis and Grahan Nash......you can't make this stuff up.... great film!

Of all the requests made each year to the National Archives for reproductions of photographs and documents, one item has been requested more than any other. That item, more requested than the Bill of Rights or even the Constitution of the United States, is the photograph of Elvis Presley and Richard M. Nixon shaking hands on the occasion of Presley's visit to the White House.
Also Nixons own Library gets more requests for those photos and info on the meeting than any other. Amazing.
Well now with so many of you saying you enjoyed the movie, I just might change my mind and buy the thing.

I know its a comedy and it is not an effort to portrait the real Elvis, but really? it is only more into the Elvis false image as the fat no brained peanut butter eater dude, the movie itself its cheap entertainment, sorry to disagree with most of you Elvis fans, but I just hated this one.
Should I be back to the drawing board now????
Thanks Jen, can't judge until I see the whole thing I guess.
