What are the best Elvis documentaries. I have The E! True Hollywood Story. E by the Presley's, Liva Las Vegas, His Best Friend Remembers, Rare Moments With the King, and Elvis The King of Rock and Roll.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed watching This Is Elvis, even though the combination of real and staged footage can be frustrating at times and I can't condone the Colonel's decision to overdub some of the 50's TV performances with augmentations to the musical arrangement (cheesy brass etc).
It's entertaining viewing, though.

The original full-length cut is obviously essential for the rare peek at upstairs in Graceland and the bizarre spectacle of Joe Esposito re-enacting the discovery of Elvis's body.

yep teddy l got the original full-length one and it's really great to watch.

The "Definitive Elvis" collection from "Black Hill Pictures GMBH" is an interesting collection...I have it as two boxes,each with 4 dvds,two programmes on each disc....some interesting interviews and footage....plus it is quite cheap to buy...the 8 disc set only cost me 20 euro over here.....well worth the price.

The main thing that always irritates me about TIE is having "Elvis" narrate about his own life.
"If only I'd seen what I was doin to maself"...that accent is hilarious.

Documentary jewels about the 50's:

"Elvis '56": The best documentary ever about the year when he started it all. Great footage and narration. A real must have for every Elvis fan, old or new.

"Elvis Presley (on the classic albums series)". A great documentary about the making of Elvis first album, with great interviews with some of the people involved including Scotty Moore, Sam Philips, as well as interviews with people like Guralnick and Jorgensen.

"Elvis in Hollywood: The 50's": A fantastic documentary about Elvis arrive in Hollywood and the making of his first 4 movies prior his army induction, including some rare footage. A nice re evaluation of his acting talent.

Other Great documentaries:

"Elvis: The Great Performances (Vol. 1, 2 & 3)": These 3 ones are great, each one focusing on a different aspect of his great talent as a musician and performer, one is narrated by Bono himself! There is a neat DVD box set with the 3 volumes all together, great buy.

"This is Elvis". Theatrically released in 1980, is a little dated today, (means much in the style rock documentaries/biographies were done in the late 70's early 80's see: "Jimi Hendrix" and "Imagine John Lennon" both from the same production team as "This is Elvis"). But although it might be, as some others have told, a little odd for today standars, it still is the definitive Elvis full biography documentary, great footage and coverage of both his life and career.

Maybe the other documentaries mentioned above are also good,but I haven't seen them.

I liked the True Hollywood story it is called The last Days of Elvis...I'll have to call my library and see if they have any of the others that are listed!!!
