No It Is from Opening Night 1970
IS this Photo from Opening Night 1969?
1969 july 31st, will we ever see anything?? sob sob!
No It Is from Opening Night 1970
I´m not sure Vegas King. I would say not opening night 1970.
The photo posted by “hgs262626” not looks like aug 1970. In aug´70 the tie and jacket of Cary Grant are different: his tie is silver and more broad.
Please check yours DVD:
1.- Official version 1970 of “TTWII” from 41:45 to 41:47 minutes.
2.- “TTWII-Special edition” (2001) on 34:28 minutes and party after opening show in closing credits 1:30:45 to 1:30:56.
And look this image:
"I am now a central part
Of your mind´s landscape
Wheter you care or do not
Yeah, I´ve made up your mind"
Maybe 1969?![]()

I believe it's from sometime in August , 1970. The reason the tie in the other picture looks to be different could be due to the lighting. Plus, the hairstyle of Mr. Grant looks the same.
....and the actress Lana Turner
Cary Grant flew to Las Vegas in Kirk Kerkorian's private plane to see Elvis' opening night in 1969, so I would guess that this photo of the two men together would have been taken then. However Grant was a big Elvis fan and attended several concerts in Las Vegas over the years, so it's difficult to be positive.

Dude, Cary Grant had the same hairstyle from when he was 12 until he died!
At least according to Guralnick, who may have been wrong. I find it odd that, of all the celebrities he lists as being there on opening night, Grant is the only "new" one listed, ie everyone on the list had been mentioned elsewhere before.
One definite (Way It Is); one possible ('69) although unsourced (Guralnick); what is your source that Grant attended "several" shows?

According Guralnick-Jorgensen "Day by Day" (1999) page 259 writes about Opening Night 1969 at 8:15 pm:
July 31 (thursday):
"....This invitation-only gala attracts celebrities from Cary Grant to Carol Channing, Pat Boone, Fats Domino, and Phil Ochs, as well as a large contingent of press, many of whom the Colonel has had flown in on International owner Kirk Kerkorian´s private jet".
Maybe this photo is from 1969.

This photo is not from opening night.
It is, however, from the opening night of the International Hotel itself.

There are only screengrabs of them, so far at least.

Maybe Guralnick got his information from the same Cary Grant biographies that I did. The information is also on several of the Cary Grant fan websites (we all know fans often put more effort into their research than some biographers!)
