The new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace just opened here this past Friday...I was wondering if anyone has seen it, yet?It looks like it will be a great action movie!

"I just wanna be......your Teddy Bear"
That does look exciting Franny but I'm not a big Bond fan either and Sean Connery is the only one I can see in that role.

If it's like Casino Royale it will be a good action film, but not a great Bond film.
Sean Connery and Pierce were good as 007,but Rodger Moore was a great Bond![]()
Well, if memory serves me, I was just thinking about my "Cats" and suddenly remembered that Elvis liked Sean Connery in the bond films available before his death of course.. Sean Connery is great! No one else could match that man as Bond, just my opinion. Anyone see what a fine job he did with Nic cage in "The Rock" Fabulous performance.
So maybe we are not off topic as thought.
"I just wanna be......your Teddy Bear"
Well these movies are fit for parody. Like in Sledgehammer this mafioso bad guy gently strokes cats before throwing them out of the window.
all the goons I left behind,
memories still linger..
While Sean Connery will always be the actor most associated with the role of James Bond, I have always thought Pierce Brosnan was EXCELLENT in the role!!!
Sadly, despite being a James Bond fan, I have to admit that I haven't seen CASINO ROYALE yet...
...so until I see that one I am going to have to wait to see QUANTUM OF SOLACE and therefore can't give my opinion of Daniel Craig as Bond yet.

Brosnan was offered the role of Bond in 1986 but he was in the TV series "Remingtion Steele" and they would not let him out of his contract to make the movie. Because Bond movies take so long to make-there was no way he could do both. So Timothy Dalton ended up as Bond.
Such a shame he could not have started in 1986 instead of 1994.
I AGREE 100% KEN!!!
Of all the Bonds (not counting George Lazenby, who I personally don't consider a Bond actor), I have to say that Timothy Dalton was the weakest of the Bond actors! Fortunately he didn't last that long...
It is a shame that Brosnan didn't take the role sooner...we could have been spared the "Dalton Years"!!!

Allthough I agree on Dalton, I do have to say that his movies are actually very nice to watch nowadays.
Then, again, I like all Bond actors.
Loved Connery's cool ways, and the old style of movie making in the sixties. And Moore always makes me laugh with his smart remarks and his famous eyebrows.
The Lazenby movie does have some fine action sequences near the end, and who else but Moore back then could have been a follow up to Connery. Nobody.
Pierce Brosnan of course fitted the part very well! Very cool movies!
Craig however, in a much diff'rent style of course, does a very good job as well. Very exciting movies.
I do however (as a Bond fan) also miss the old style stuff, the gadgets, tongue in cheek humour and the class Bond is supposed to have according to the books and previous movies.
But they made the right move with Craig and the style change.

I never could figure out whay Timothy Dalton didn't make a good Bond. I thought he was a very sexy man, so it seemed like a good fit to me. Maybe someone can explain why he didn't succeed in the role.
Timothy Dalton was excellent in the role of Heathcliff in "Wuthering Heights."![]()
Dalton did not succeed in the role for two reasons mainly.
Most important one perhaps was that the movies he was in, in comparison with the others did not do that well at the box office. And Bond fans simply did not like the man in the part.
Second is, that Dalton was merely a way of waiting for Brosnan to take over.
b.t.w. with my remark in my previous post I meant that I did like Dalton's Bond movies.
I have not seen it yet.
If all goes well, it will see it next week.
Some of you all never been down South too much...
I'm gonna tell you a little story, so you'll understand where I'm talking about
As big of a Bond fan as I am, I just can't bring myself to watch the Dalton films....everytime he says "Bond, James Bond", I just cringe....it's so plain sounding....not even a hint of a British accent....he just doesn't fit the part to me.
Absolutely....I LOVE the one-liners that Moore tosses out in his Bond movies!!
As I said, I haven't seen CASINO ROYALE yet, but from the clips that I have seen, it's clear that they wanted to go in a different direction with Bond and from the reviews I have seen, it is quite clear that they did indeed pick the right actor for the part.

PRECISELY!!!!
Brosnan was the producers choice for Bond since Moore bowed out of the role, as Ken pointed out earlier. But because of his obligation to REMINGTON STEELE, Brosnan couldn't accept the role at that time....so Dalton was a temporary Bond until Brosnan could step into the tuxedo!!!

And I might add that he was THE SEXIST Bond on screen (my female perspective, notwithstanding!!)!!!!! I know Sean Connery has legions of fans, and rightly so, plus he was the original Bond, but of my generation, Pierce Brosnan does it for me.......maybe its that black hair and beautiful blue eyes.......sound familiar??????

I just read his biography over at IMDB and it says that he was first offered the Bond role and turned it down. Then, they approached Brosnan who was unable to get out of Remington Steele so they went back to Dalton and he accepted.
I wonder why there was no British accent...he was born in Wales and raised around Manchester.![]()
