Elvis fans getting younger not older

I've been seeing a lot more younger fans discovering the man and his music whether it be through originals or new remixes or the modern day stars appearing and talking about Elvis and his impact on today's music. Something is definitely luring them in. It seems every time EPE posts a new Insiders member profile that it's someone from the post Elvis era, usually 20 somethings. There are young fans now on the Elvis forums throughout the net and on here as well. Heck I'm only in my 30's and that's considered part of the young group.

Anyway my purpose for this thread is that it's great to see so many new and young fans discovering the King!

I have been a fan as long as there has been an "ELVIS" so obviously I am an oldie from the fifties. I can't tell you how much it thrills me to see the new fans join the throngs of us that love ELVIS, the man, and his music. The new fan is as important as the old fan....especially as us old fans must leave....We pass the candle to you the newer fans. Please keep it lit and the glow shining brightly through the years. Be sure to pass it to those that follow you with the same instructions.

It's really amazing to see so many young fans today. As a life long fan it makes me proud to feel that someone that was popular when I was just a child is still recognized and talked about as if he were still alive.

I think I can still be considered young as I am only in my 30's :-) But, I've been an Elvis fan since I was just about 7 or 10. It's great to know that fans are getting "younger" it means the "legend" will leave on. My 2 sons (age 7 and 5), in fact, are so familiar with Elvis' face and voice that they can recognize his image and voice whenever they see one!
It's comforting to know that younger generations are recognizing Elvis, his achievement and impact in the music world.

Same as you Carole, i've been a fan since 56, your sentiments are wonderful, my 4 year old grandson already knows who Elvis is, welcome all young fans.

Well im 20 and i know alot of people that like Elvis, maybe not to the extent that i do but they still recgonise his tallent. Even my 12 year old cousin likes Elvis, he watched Elvis on Tour before I did :O And a friend of mine often puts his music on in the car, and between all of the modern music comes Promised Land and it doesnt sound out of place at all. his fav. song is Party.

many times i get SMS messages from my friends on 16th August, saying stuff like "30 years we lost a great man" which is nice cuz theyre not fans.

I was born in 78 so sadly elvis was gone by than, but seeing how many fans we have today even on this forum that are ages from 13, 18 and older is really great to see that elvis is really something big in people lives. I seen alot of curtoons have elvis music in it so he is everywhere.

I love seeing the little kids all dressed up like him and the fact that they know who they're dressed like. Heck I've seen little girls dressed like Priscilla even.

Even former Miss Teen USA, Rachel Smith wore an Elvis jumpsuit during a beauty pageant as her tribute to the King!

Many "older fans" are not into the computer like younger fans. Especially the original fans from the 50s-many probably do not own one.
I am 53 and only because my kids needed a computer for high school and college did I get one-several years back.
I know many young people who have been here and told how they discovered Elvis- the majority just saw one of his movies, or heard certain songs and he hit with them. They got it. Many are fans because their parents were and they were exposed to the music and his performances. There are all kinds of ways someone becomes an Elvis fan-not just remixes and a few newer stars talking about him.
His fan base seems to stay pretty constant-most world wide fan clubs etc....

I think the rerelease of A Little Less Conversation had a huge impact of young people. A lot of young people i know got interested in Elvis via that song.

It did for some for a fleeting time-I truely do not see the very steadfast fans of old ie.... Elvis fans, Beatle fans, Sinatra fans.....
My own kids "think someone is awesome"-for 6-8 months then someone new replaces them.
I could name 6 artists who were my oldest daughters favorite artist (for 6-8 months at a time) Flavor of the month would be a good way to describe this mindset.
