Okay, I'll give you that- but what was Elvis's excuse?![]()

I think they could be very happy and in love. But like most normal relationships, they had bad times too. Often times it takes a while to settle the bad things down. Some relationships just can't get past the bad stuff. They become more of a determining factor and don't outweight the happy and loving times. I think that is what happened with them.
Now to clear something up: people assume because of things I say that I hate Priscilla, I don't have that much strong feelings for her. And I think it's assumed that I think what she did was so bad. Maybe you do but I don't. This was Elvis, a handsome, charismatic, famous rich man. I can't say I wouldn't do what she did. And I do think she paid a price for wanting to be with him.
My problems comes with her actions after she had Lisa. Why, because I do think he wanted it to work. I think before the marriage and after Lisa came, he was faithful and had been giving her much more freedom and understanding about what it was like to live with him. I guess because I think that was by far the happiest time of their lives, I get frustrated wondering why when she finally got it all, she threw it out the window because of lack of sex?? Don't get me wrong, I have had friends who went through the same changes in their relationships after a baby. But they did not seek out other men. They knew that a child was involved now. They waited for it to work itself out because they were so happy in so many other aspects of the marriage. I feel bad for Elvis and maybe he doesn't deserve it because he fooled around for too long before they got married, but I do. I feel bad cause he made a promise and I think wanted to keep it.
Who knows if he would have????? But didn't he deserve a chance? Didn't the marriage deserve a chance?
Everything she did after the affair I question.
Did she do right to leave him, shoot, I don't hold that against her, that marriage was dead in the water. I think they both just held on to the good times like a life boat keeping it barely floating for Lisa.

I agree with most of this wholeheartedly.
The extra pressure which is created by the arrival of a child is very often the undoing of an already compromised relationship.
With Elvis and Cilla, it wasn't so much that they didn't love each other enough- it was largely down to the uniquely unusual circumstances which came with being who he was. You can't have an extraordinary life and excel at being ordinary, too.
Lisa arrived just as Elvis's career was about to shift gear again.
Something had to give and in the end it was the marriage. I don't know if it really matters 'who did what first'.

This one made me silent. Good post
It's hard NOT to imagine Elvis as perfect; how else could someone be THAT good looking, THAT talented, THAT generous & THAT charismatic
One would hope that they were married in the first one, given their uninhibited alfresco coitus!![]()
