I think its safe to say Elvis was very near 6 feet-as has been said the Army should know. Just standing extra straight can add half an inch to anyones measurements so differences of 1/4 an inch are not that surprising.
The average height for a man is 5' 9" tall...so he was taller than the average man. As Getlo and I both have said...the army puts him right under 6 ft. tall.
Agreed. Elvis was around 6 ft. tall - but the lifts he wore in his boots made him appear much taller.

Not to take this 'off-topic' in regards to Charlie's height but....wasn't he around 5' 3"?? I think I've read that in some books.

I seem to recall reading somewhere years ago that Elvis was slightly taller when he returned from Germany than when he was inducted. Can anyone tell me if they've read this too or if there is any concrete evidence of this? I realize that by the time he returned to performing, he did appear taller because of his shoes, etc., but I'm referring to actual height.

I've never read that Elvis gained height after he got out of the army but he looked it because he was much slimmer.

I heard an interview where Elvis said he was an even six foot.
I ALWAYS THOUGHT HE WAS AROUND 6 FOOT TALL!! A TALL HANDSOME MAN!!
I am not debating his height as its been discussed on the MB many times. I just recall reading that he grew somewhat while he was in the Army and discovered he was a tad bit taller when he returned home. I just cannot recall where I read that.

I heard that interview as well.
I have read that during his induction into the army,Elvis was 5 feet 11 inches tall.I bought a book from TCM and they printed Elvis' height as 6 and a half feet tall.In the dvd Elvis by the Presley's Lisa Marie says her dad was 6 foot 2.So,who's right?

I think it would be hard to dispute what the US army has him listed at.

I am "sure" Elvis was six foot and his boots and lifts made him a little taller.
