To Where You Are
( By Josh Groban )
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You'r still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dreams
And isn't faith believing
All powers can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me
Everyday
Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are.
(By Josh Groban )
(Lyrics were composed by Linda Thompson)
(Music by Richard Marx)
Just perfect Roseanne, fantastic Josh Groban, thank you
I never knew Linda Thompson wrote this song! Wow, I bet it was written with Elvis in mind. That makes it even more sentimental. Thanks for that information.
WOW!! I had forgotten that Linda Thompson did these lyrics!!! Is this the song she won a Grammy for? And the music was done by Richard Marx? I always liked him...especially "Endless Summer Nights". What other lyrics has Linda Thompson done?
THANK YOU to everyone for your kind comments!![]()
This one gave me goose bumps, so touching, thank you Rosanne it is wonderful!
And thank you Jeanette for the info!
Thank you miss clawdy. here are some lyrics that linda has done.
In the 1980’s Linda began to successfully add another title to her name—that of songwriter. She has penned some of the most poignant lyrics of the last few decades, sung by some of the biggest stars in the recording industry including; Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Leann Rimes and many, many more. Lindas lyrics have also been recorded by such diverse artists as The Backstreet Boys, Kenny Rogers, Air Supply, Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson, Aaron Neville, Art Garfunkcle, Patty LaBelle, and even the Russian Red Army Choir.
Thompson’s early songwriting success came with such hit songs as No Explanation sung by Peter Cetera for the triple platinum Pretty Woman Soundtrack. She soon became a favorite of filmmakers, asked to collaborate on countless motion picture soundtracks for blockbusters like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Eraser, Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” and Clint Eastwood’s “True Crime—but perhaps her most memorable motion picture contribution came when she wrote the Grammy and Academy Award nominated, “I Have Nothing,” sung by Whitney Houston on the “Bodyguard” Soundtrack, which has sold more than 30 million copies.

I think Elvis would be so proud of her!
I remember Linda saying in interviews like on Larry King that Elvis wanted to put her poems to music and record some of them but she told him no because she felt they were to personal. I think that's a shame as her lyrics could have been turned into some pretty good ballads for Elvis to record.
I love that photo through the window at 1:21!
It's fascinating to see a picture of him which is that candid.![]()
'Taking Care of Beaulieu'.
