Thanks to everyone for thinking about us!

Actually for this storm, I'm at my parents home in Lousiana which is about 35 minutes east of where I live, but much further inland, so we shouldn't be affected by the surge.

Both of my kids are in Austin, Texas and they are looking for bad weather as well. Bad enough that they have cancelled the football game Saturday between the University of Texas Longhorns and the Arkansas Razorbacks. So...please think about all of us!!!!
Rosanne, let the devil take the football game!! It can be played later in another time... I hope you and your family will stay in safe. Write if you can! Thinking about you and those who live in that area. Betti

    Ike update!!

I just got off the phone with Gail. The winds are really starting to kick up, but they don't expect it to "hit" for another 6 or 7 hours. You can tune into CNN and probably see the video of how Galveston looks and the storm hasn't come ashore there yet. It won't get here until tomorrow morning sometime..we are looking for 5 to 6 inches of rain and winds up to 60 MPH.

Let me clear up the "football game" statement. No one is concerned about the game NOT being played. My point is this....here in the state of Texas football is KING, especially the UT Longhorns. When they cancel a football game in Texas ~ the weather is going to be BAD!!!!!!!!

This was on CNN just 20 mins. ago. I really hope everyone will be alright!

Water pushed ashore by the approaching Hurricane Ike has already flooded neighborhoods in Galveston, Texas. In nearby Houston, some 200,000 have fled ahead of the hurricane. Ike's storm surge could reach a deadly 22 feet, forecasters said. The center should make landfall early Saturday.
