Thread: Did Elvis Do Cocaine?

    Did Elvis Do Cocaine?

I read in a couple of books that Elvis did liquid cocaine. He does have all the trade marks of someone addicted to it, I used to be addicted to cocaine and at times I thought he was on it but, I always thought that was due to his addiction to medication. I also read somewhere that what he took daily was way more potent than cocaine. I know we all don't know what Elvis did in private but can anyone clear this up for me?

Yes, Elvis did use liquid cocaine, and quite regularly for years. Was he addicted? Not as much as he was to his other stuff. It wasn't a regular part of his drug regimen.

There is nothing else left on the subject matter to say. Let it go.

Didn't Dr. Nick say that the stuff in the cotton balls was actually Lidocaine, not liquid cocaine. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I´m sorry but I´m tired of always be the same.ELVIS was and is KING and we leave most importantly it´s simplicity as a man and his music as an artist ¿who most want?

    It's true.

We know the stories, or what is made up to make it even worse, or more spectacular for newspapers and tv to sell their stuff.

There is nothing more to tell on this subject.

And to be honest, it's not even that interesting if you ask me.

If he did all that, or did not, I don't care.

If he did, which he probably did, but none of us really know for sure, it will not change anything on how we look upon our man.

And I wanna say, this cocaine story, it was brought to life by Albert Goldman in his book years ago.
    That says enough I guess.
Allthough I also think Goldman got a lot right in his book.

We don't like to hear those stories, but we don't have to be ashamed about them either.

It's all part of him being the legend he was, and still is.

If you listen to the closing show of the ELVIS SUMMER FESTIVAL 1974 (which was released on a CD called "Desert Storm") it is obvious that Elvis is under the influence of stuff like that. On the tour that followed the Vegas engagement and during the Tahoe engagement that followed the tour one could also get the impression that Elvis used cocaine or some similar kind of stuff. Liquid or not, it was drugs. If you don't like to read that I can recomment the book from Darrin Lee to you in which he tells you the truth about the fall tour of 1974. Very funny.

I think you could be right about Goldman Rene, there was some truth to some of his stories. They were all told in such a vile manner though that he lost all of his credibility. You can't imagine how it made those of us here in the South feel.

I mean, we all now he was on pills or drugs, or whatever.

It never meant nothing to me, not in a way that I liked the man less for it.

Sure, we can discuss it all we want, but it happened.
And we have to live with the fact he was not perfect, but who is?

I wondered, why do us fans, who like the man so much, bring that up everytime?

We know the truth about it, don't we?

And yes, Rosanna, Goldman in fact (if I dare to be honest lol ) wrote a very good book back then. His big mistake was to be so rude, to write it at that time, in such a foul way.

However, he did have a lot of things right as well. His way of writing them put me off, and everyone who loved Elvis for that matter.

It's about time we look at it in a serious way.

We can now, now that we know all that is said.

And once again, they can write whatever they want, it will not change my mind on Elvis.

And I think that goes for all of us.

You're absolutely right in all you said Rene. Bad choices of words can make something that did happen sound much worse than it actually was and that's the way Goldman chose to go with his book.

A time period where I think he was experimenting with coke was in the September/Ocotber 1974 Circa. If you listen to a show from that tour you can hear in Elvis' voice how he was literally overdoing it quiet abit. Also have heard rumors he did a line or two on July 19th 1975 before his shows in Uniondale. They are exceptionally fine shows without a doubt but it would not surprise me if these rumors indeed turned out to be true. its like Sonny said whether they are true or not, it don't change my personal opinion on Elvis a-tall, because we all know he tried lots of different stuff and it don't matter to me!

I honestly believe, until proven wrong, that our man did not sniff a mirrored plate before a show.

It's so not him, know what I mean?

Maybe he used something, but not in a way like that.

Then again, what do we know, and care?

They were cotton woll balls soaked in the stuff. He would insert them into his nostrils.

Using a piece of mirrored glass and snorting powder.......that would have been a bit 'too street' for Elvis - and we know what he thought of street drugs...

Apparently Elvis was using that stuff quiet abit during that 5 day tour in December 27th-31st of 1976...would explain alot considering during the summer months of that tours he could hardly keep his eyes open and during this tour hes about to explode with excitement and energy. Someone who goes through that much drastic change in a short matter of months something is indeed really wrong there.
