    Filming of Elvis on Tour

Do we have any members that were present during any of the concerts that were filmed for Elvis on Tour in 1972???? I believe that there were 4 or 5 concerts that were filmed for this documentary.

If you were, please share any details of those concerts.

Yes, I was present at the 04-17-1972 concert in Little Rock, Arkansas. The backstage sequence was filmed and featured in EOT, plus also snippets during the concert as well.

Can you confirm that you saw - with your own eyes - guys with the big MGM cameras actually filming Elvis on stage that night?

Eventually I say I hope we get all the shows they filmed for EOT.

Frankie, a review of the show you saw from April 17th 1972 would be most welcome, especially if you have some photo's to go a long with it

I know the woman who was at this show that was filmed talking about her operation and ending it by saying, "I wouldn't miss it for nothing". She doesn't have the beehive anymore..lol

and yes, it would be nice if they released everything & every show they had taped. Like they did with the 68 NBC Special.
What's missing is when he wore the White Pyramid, Red Matador and Snowflake 1 (aka) Spectrum Jumpsuits. You see the White Pyramid in a 4 second clip while Jerry is doing his solo on Polk Salad Annie, Elvis in the limo on the way to the show, walking to the venue, then after the show in the limo.
Red Matador, the first clips of Elvis backstage, on the way to the stage, then little clips of him singing, Suspicious Minds, For The Good Times and laying on the floor on the stage.
From what I could tell they only show the, Snowflake Jumpsuit while he's walking to the venue for a few seconds and they show a woman looking at a Polaroid picture she took.

Other than that, I never saw the full wide screen version so I might have missed out on a lot frames they cut out for video tape and laser disc versions.

Holy Cow, Mojo! You know that lady!!! Every time I see that I think of how incredible that is... coming to see Elvis after a surgery! Now that's a dedicated fan!!! Did she live in San Antonio and is she still located there? My parents live in San Antonio now.

And yes, I dream of someday having the complete concert series on DVD!!! It would be FANTASTIC if they would enhance, remix, remaster, and redit the whole series!

she's in Houston, I think she drove from Houston to go to that show in San Antonio. I have some pictures of her at a benefit show me and some other Elvis wannabes sang at. I have to find it.

on remixing EOT look at the awesome job they did with the FTD, EOT REHEARSAL CD.

Look a tad closer at Elvis's hair. That brief snippet is from San Antonio. You can tell by Elvis's hairstyle in that frame. You can also see a brief clip of Elvis from Greensboro, NC on April 14, 1972 during the ending sequence of the song.

And there's been some debate as to where that opening footage of the limo pulling in and the backstage footage of Elvis in the Red Matador suit is really from. It may not be from Little Rock, AR at all. If we could figure out what the band wore that night (Charlie is in blue) then we'd have it nailed down.

    Was this ever resolved, FrankieRider?

I've known her since 1978. We call her Pee Wee (as Rosanne laughs)!! Also, her brother that's she talking about (the tall guy). Funny thing about that story is my mom was 2 weeks out of the hospital from having a hysterectomy too and still had stitches in her tummy. But, she drove me, my 2 sisters and my grandma to San Antonio. Looking back on it - I don't know how she did it but she did! I do recall she was not in good shape for a couple of weeks after that trip!!

I have to look into it again, you're right about the hair but I'll have look closer at the jumpsuit.
I'll look into the red matador/blue band member suit as well

I find the show from April 18th 1972 San Antonio behinde the Hampton Roads concert from April 9th to be the best two from that tour IMO!!

I believe the limo entrance into the back of the building is either in Hampton Roads afternoon show the same day they filmed the evening show, or it's from Richmond the following day. I don't think any of the Little Rock show ever made it to the actual movie.

Obviously you didn't get up and perform, and I'm guessing that you didn't fall asleep during the meetup either!

I'd have to disagree. In looking at photos of Elvis's hair during the arrival in Hampton Roads, VA that afternoon, the hairstyle of Elvis backstage during the opening sequence doesn't match Elvis's hair during his arrival earlier that afternoon--it's much different.

Did the band wear the blue stage outfits for both the afternoon & evening shows at Hampton Roads, VA? That's the question.

If the footage isn't from LR it's gotta be from Richmond, VA. I think FrankieRider would know a little 'bout this and might be able to help us out here.
