Yet another funny.. thing! (parallel universe)

    Hey everybody,

Just to have a laugh I've been thinking about very improbable choices for Elvis' repertoire. This is not a topic meant to bring up song titles which we would have liked to hear, like I've said the art is to make us laugh with absurd choices. Would they exist in a parallel universe? I don't know..

Since this topic doesn't seem too serious, I've decided to keep it "off-topic". I hope the moderators agree and the members may join the fun too.

I need to start with some examples. It's okay creating a story around it.

"In 1953 Elvis made a recording of "It's Easy For You" as a present for his mother. It fitted his overall mood at the time, but no official recording has surfaced."

"For the Aloha Special he did a version of "True Love Travels On A Gravel Road", but the director wasn't satisfied. Like always he could feel and understand the emotion and the meaning of the song, but there were more than enough ballads to make up the Special".

"In March of 1977 he did a blistering version of "Rubbernecking". His crush on Ginger Alden was supposed to be the explanation for this unexpected song".

Elvis was so talented that he could try anything, if only a few lines, while performing live. Of course he did need to be familiar with the basics of the song.

That's why I'm challenging you to make up choices which seem even too unlikely for Elvis to have tried at some given time.

    creative

Come on guys, throw in some creative thinking..!

You could also regard the topic like this: what song would you have liked to hear at another point in time if only there was a chance (even if the song hadn't actually been written by then).

Examples: "Polk Salad Annie" in 1963? "I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water" in 1976?

The choice would have to be original and funny/interesting - that means this would be a bad example: have him record the entire soundtrack to "Harum Scarum" in 1975..

You could also consider bringing up choices that might have been impossible for Elvis to do. Understand his artistic mind and find out what wouldn't or couldn't work (at some given point in time). Example: an operatic "Unchained Melody" in 1953..
