Elvis musical influence on other artists

    Hello everyone

Everybody talks about what a huge musical influence had on many artists who followed him but I don't really hear it myself so I thought this would be good to talk about.

of course Elvis was a huge music influence on all the 50 rockers
listen to Buddy Holly's ''Rockin around with ollie Vee'', Gene Vincent Be Bop a lu'' and Conway Twitty's ''it's only make believe''

in the 60's it has been said that most of the 60's rockers were inspired by seeing Elvis on t.v., movies or hearing his records and from then on wanted to be musicians and performers themselves. The beatles for example saw on of Elvis in one of his movies, then saw how the girls reacted to him and the rest is history. But I don't hear Elvis in the beatles music, when I hear the early beatles I think of the Everly brothers and Buddy Holly, when I hear the Rolling stones I think of Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters as their main influences.
The Who and the Kinks like the stones took the Bo Diddley beat a step further and created hard rock.

I heard after hearing Elvis on the radio in prison sing it's now or never it inspired Barry White to turn his life around and become a singer but I don't hear Elvis in Barry's music.
Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin say they were both inspired by Elvis but I don't hear Elvis in there music.

However I do think Elvis was a tremendous musical influence on CCR and Joe South, I think their sound is just updated from Elvis 50's sound it's very roots oriented.

I want everyone's opinion on this do you think Elvis was more of an inspiration than an actual influence after the 50's?
If not what are some of the bands that Elvis musically influenced post 50's?

I look forward to hearing form all of you on this

Definitely agree with you on CCR.

When I think of Elvis' influence on others I don't necessarily think of a sound, but more the fact he influenced others to go the route they did, as admitted by just about everyone from the Beatles to Buddy Hooly to Bob Dylan to Fleetwood Mac to Elton John, etc., etc., etc.

His influence was incredible! The list is a mile long of hall of fame legends, among others, who started into music because of Elvis.

one more artist I think Elvis influenced was Tom Jones. Tom Jones sings in a more over the top way than Elvis but you tell he is influenced vocally be Elvis.
Also the way he performs on stage is kind of similar to Elvis when Tom first came on the scene there were a lot of people comparing him with Elvis.
