    June 26th 1977

Will we ever get an offical release of this show. Of course If it happens to would be through the Follow That Dream Label.

Some have said it would be the last release FTD covers, which would make sense but it definitley deserves to be released on an official label even though there are many great boots out there containing the show on them.

There will be no official release, per se, as it was not recorded by RCA, not even on soundboard.

FTD might decide one day to release it, but with the botch-up they did on Pittsburgh NYE 1976, it's unlikely. A very good quality audience recording is what's needed, but the ones that exist can only be classed as "good".

The recent boiotleg release is probably the best you'll ever get.

And, aside from it being the last show, there's nothing else very significant about it. A reasonably good show, but nothing outstanding.

Please Release Me, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and I Can't Stop Loving You are significent imo for a 77 show anyhow.

They could release it just like they did with the Pittsburg concert, I definitley think the sound is amont the best audience recordings.

Yes, but it was only marginally better than the original Rockin' With Elvis New Years' Eve bootleg LP. They even used the same audience recording, which presumably was the only one available. The difference in sound and the improvements were insignificant.

It was an unnecessary release, especially considering the amount of actual soundboards left, and the fact that Indy was more significant than NYE '76.

And to spread it over 2 CDs was a blatant rip-off.

FTD should not release audience recordings unless they are of one-off or rare songs; not entire shows.

I do see your point as to how its "dumb" really to release an audience recording if the sound is not better than what we already had.

I still have a small hope that a soundboard will show up containing that final show.

Maybe "Follow That Dream" will release the audience recording some day, but if they do it it is just for the money.

A label called "Rainbow Records" has just recently released a fine double disc called "The Final Farewell" which contains a good sounding audience recorded version of the show. Besides the concert itself the disc even contains the pre-show performed by The Stamps Quartett and The Sweet Inspirations. To me this release is fine and there is no need to release it through "Follow That Dream" once again.

I have that Final Farewell 2 CDSet. The best release of the concert thus far imo.

True, but at least they didn't charge fans double the price of an FTD CD just because it was a 2-CD set....although I am sure that the thought crossed their minds!!

Personally I think Elvis' final show should be released for historical purposes, even if it is just an audience recording. But other than that show Getlo, I agree with you 100% that unless a compilation CD is going to be assembled with single concert rarities, I see no reason for FTD to release anymore audience recordings. FTD has already released the NYE show for historical purposes, and the final show would be the only other show of an historical nature that I feel should be released, even if it is an audience recording.

OK so they should release it because of the historic content Mike, I agree.

Ernst said they were to release one show from every tour and engagement, so what about the December 31st 1975 New Years Eve concert in Pontiac Michigan. I wonder if this will eventually be released by FTD

OOPS....I didn't think about this one...

I guess I'll add the Pontiac New Year's Eve show to my list of shows that for historical purposes should be released by FTD, even if it is only in an audience recorded quality.

I don't agree. I think this version of "Hurt" is the ultimate one! Elvis' voice sounded excellent and he seemed focused and playful.

I regarded this as some sort of sequel to Aloha. The focus is on singing, no instrumental work by Elvis (except for the intro).

There is a few shows that needs to be release if only audience recordings is only available. NYE 75 is one, so is his last show. But there are other shows that is great. All of the 1976 tour should be release. Atlanta December 1976 show needs a release since it was his has show in Atlanta. The other two Madison Square Garden shows needs to be release if a better recording is found. His first show ifor his comeback to concerts is a must - July 31, 1969, if a recording can be found. So is his last vegas concert. Also, his first Lake Tahoe show and last one need to be release. Again, if FTD release any of these they need to be good quality shows.

I am up for any of these. Since FTD has covered alot of 76 etc now I think its time for some tour shows from 73, some stuf from Tahoe 1974 and more!
