It would be nice to hear. I think I will buy it.
From ElvisNews.com:
SONY BMG Music Entertainment, in partnership with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., will release the “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets” CD, which is the first Elvis Presley duet recordings album and the first Christmas compilation of its kind ever produced. This release marks yet another milestone in Elvis Presley’s legacy, 31 years after his death.
The CD will feature many of today’s biggest country artists, including Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Sarah Evans and LeAnn Rimes singing classic Elvis holiday songs with Elvis Presley.
“There has been tremendous excitement from the many artists contributing their voices to these Elvis Christmas classics. We believe Elvis fans will truly enjoy these unique collaborations while introducing Elvis' holiday classics to the many fans of his duet partners,” says Joe Galante, Chairman, SONY BMG Nashville.
In order to create these classic “duets” Sony BMG used the most advanced and sophisticated audio technology available. For songs that were recorded on one track, mono, musical beds were created to perfectly match the instrumentation and arrangements contained on the originals. In the case of songs that have been recorded in multi-track where Elvis' vocal is isolated on a single track, the vocal was simply dropped for a given verse or chorus, making room for the duet artist. To be as faithful as possible to the original recordings, the fabled RCA Studio B in Nashville - the same studio that Elvis recorded the 1971 original Christmas session in, was used.
“This is an excellent example of the innovative ways in which we keep Elvis’ catalog fresh and continue the history of creating, preserving and celebrating great music,” says John Ingrassia, President of the SONY BMG Commercial Music Group.
"We are so pleased that these accomplished artists are collaborating with Elvis in this unique way to make exciting new versions of his Christmas songs. I am sure Elvis would be proud to have worked with them," says Priscilla Presley.
Elvis is one of the biggest-selling artists every holiday season, although he only recorded 20 Christmas songs, his various holiday albums have sold over 25 million copies in the US alone. His existing Christmas releases are seen on the holiday charts year after year.
Partial track listing (not in sequence):
"I'll Be Home For Christmas" with Carrie Underwood
"Blue Christmas" with Martina McBride
"Here Comes Santa Claus" with LeAnn Rimes
"Silent Night" with Sara Evans
"Merry Christmas Baby" with Gretchen Wilson
"Silver Bells" with Anne Murray
"White Christmas" with Amy Grant
"O Little Town" with Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town
“Santa Claus Is Back In Town” with Wynonna Judd
Sample tracks will be previewed August 14 during Elvis Week 2008 in Memphis at the Elvis Insiders Conference. Sony/BMG and EPE executives will welcome the attendees to be the very first to hear portions of the CD during an exclusive preview and listening party at the Conference in The Cannon Center.
What does everyone think of this? I know we've discussed it before here on the forum, but now that the news of a duets CD is official...what do you all think?
Personally, I'm not really sure...it's going to be weird hearing Elvis singing a duet with today's artists, that is for sure!!!
TCB!

We will miss you dearest friend
It would be nice to hear. I think I will buy it.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley
My personal opinion: though these country stars may be very big in the US, they do not (all) have a worldwide appeal or are even known worldwide. They may be great singers, so in those parts of the world that have not heard about them, people may be tempted to buy and find out.
Personally, as a longtime Elvis fan, I really am beginning to get tired of the way they are milking his memory. What's next? All his love songs in duets?
All his gospels? His country songs?
Coming out on my Birthday.
Why only country singers? And especially why Wynonna Judd.....ugh! Talk about over the top singing.
Going to pass on this one.
I'm just not excited about this. I really can't picture Elvis doing a duet with anyone except his daughter Lisa and these songs aren't new, same old same old.
Why doesn't EPE give it up and put out some really good DVDs of EOS and TTWII with all the outtakes included and put together some good shots of other concerts. We've heard all the songs on countless CDs etc. but there is so much we haven't SEEN.
I'm tired of buying a CD for one song that I don't have but have all the other songs on different CDs.
Diane
what a playground..Elvis's music..
and that old excuse again.."Elvis would be proud of"..wish they don't try so hard to make him proud..
sad sad news..![]()
You must be kidding?!!! Don't think I'd buy that cd.
The One and Only King of Rock'n'Roll.
I won't buy it for myself, but only because, since it's close to Christmas, I'm pretty sure I'll get at least one copy of it in my Christmas stocking. In which case, I'll give it a fair listen![]()
Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go
I'm not big on Christmas music especially since they'll probably start playing it in stores in 2 or 3 weeks through X -Mas but I'll probably check out this even if it will mostly sit un-played. I like several of the artists they'll have on the CD though I could live a lifetime without ever listening to Wynonna Judd and live happy.

I'm not big on projects like these but I am going to remain open minded about it until I hear it. I like how they are wanting to keep Elvis' music fresh who knows, it may draw in new fans hearing Elvis sing with todays artist. I will get it.

I guess before l knock this l will give it a shot, but can't say I'am a fan of elvis and duets.
I must say I thought the duet he did with Frank Sinatra with Witchcraft/Love Me Tender on Saturday. March 26th 1960 was pretty darn good![]()

and the duets with AnnMargret! i'm gonna pass on this one, my primary goal is to collect the cd's with songs i haven't heard yet, plus a few great concerts, then -- maybe these other ones. and as Lisarose points out, since all my friends know i'm a fan, i'll no doubt get at least one copy of this one as a gift - esp. if it's cheap! LOL
All I wanted was a white knight with a good heart, soft touch, fast horse
Ride me off into the sunset Baby, I'm forever yours
Well Brad we fans seem to need to get on MGM's back then in order to ever get full copies of EOT and TTWII. Surely there would be enough of us to buy it to make it worth their while?
Diane
I think so, I mean look how well the 68 NBC Special and the Aloha dvdsets did, I'm sure EOT and TTWII would do just as good if not better than those. I think when they've released all there is to release etc, we will get both of these, and most likely EIC too.
